Snorkeling and Beach...

What is my best option for snorkeling half day and beach the rest of the day?

I don't want to go on the crowded cruise trip. Eagle Ray Divers was suggested, but if their half day trip is the same as I could get from land, I don't want to waste the money. Anyone with experience here? I've heard Dzul Ha is the best snorkeling, and can be reached by land.

Dzul Ha and Chankanaab offer the best shore snorkeling. You can grab a cab for around $8 or $10. Chank charges an entry fee. There may be a couple of resorts that have good snorkeling from shore, but I haven't found them , yet.

To see any good coral you will have to take a boat trip but you can see lots of fish and maybe a moray, lobster or octopus at either of these places.

Find contact information on Rosi and Mystic Snorkel at www.cozumelmycozumel.com. It's a four hour snorkel excursion, three reefs including the world famous Palancar. Her boat is small, holds 10 people but I think she will rent other larger boats for larger groups. Just tell her what you are looking for. AND, she'll drop you off at Paradise Beach on the way back for a great lunch and you'll get back to port in time for a smidgen of shopping!

The half-day trip is not the same as a DIY snorkel from land. You are taken out on a boat and you have a guide.

We're using EagleRay for a half day. Great customer service in booking the trip, and I believe we'll have the boat to ourselves that day. Just what we were looking for. I guess we'll hit Paradise Beach for lunch, and go from there. Thanks for the advice.

Good choice! That's exactly what we did two trips ago at Cozumel in 2006. We had a great time.:D
