cuppy Posted April 4, 2004 #26 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I spoke to RCCL yesterday and they are quoting $12 a day for parking payable up front. I'm confused flipping back and forth between posts - let me just see if I got this straight. We will park at the pier in one area and pay whatever fee up front. Then they will have a shuttle bus that will take us and our luggage to the ship? Do we have to pay for the shuttle? Also I was thinking about doing priceline for a hotel, we are driving down the night before and I would like to stay within 5 - 15 minutes of the pier. Does anyone have any recommendations for what area I should be bidding on? Or any hotel suggestions? jujappers Posted April 5, 2004 Author #27 Share Posted April 5, 2004 cuppy - from what I understand...we will park in the parking lot and pay the fee up front in cash. Then we will walk to the terminal which will have x-ray machines and the processing counters. I'm not positive as to how much of the actual check-in process will take place in this building, but from what the article says, I think the majority of the check-in process will take place in this building. Then they will have buses that will transport passengers down to the other end of the peninsula where we will board the ship. I doubt we will have to pay for the shuttle since this is something that RCCL is providing due to the length of the peninsula. I hope that helps. If anyone has any concrete information please feel free to share.

Drive time, your are about 15 to 20 minutes away from the pier in Bayonne...I work in JC and make the drive everyday
paminohio Posted April 5, 2004 #29 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I, also, would like to know the areas to choose based on priceline's categories. ARE any of the areas not very desireable? I hate making reservations in an unknown place...I got burned once on my way home from Florida in Charleston, NC. We called for reservations when we were a couple of hours away (it was late) and the place was not only dirty, but very scary! divetrash Posted April 19, 2004 #31 Share Posted April 19, 2004 CRUISE4DAVE&PATTI, I don't know if you got your answer yet about the proximity of the Hoboken PATH to the light rail. It's a walk across the station. when you come out of the PATH Station, you walk past all the NJ Transit trains, like you are heading towards the ferry. Just after the last track you will see machines for the tickets up against the ferry building. Purchase your tickets there and validate them. The Light Rail trains are a short walk to your right. Here is the website where you can get information about schedules and such: NJ Transit Light Rail Info Hope this helps. Laura My first cruise! ducklite Posted April 19, 2004 #32 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Pam, based on Pricelines categories, stay VERY clear of the Newark Northeast and Secaucus - North Bergen areas. I would also probably not bother with Short Hills, the Hilton out there is lovely and NJ's ONLY Five Diamond hotel, but your chances of getting that on Priceline are probably pretty slim, and it's a pretty good poke from there to the port. I would try for Newark Airport in the 4 star category, or Meadowlands-Rutherford in the three or four star category. Newark airport is probably going to be a closer drive to the port. hoboken7256 Posted April 19, 2004 #33 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Pam, I recommend you try the Jersey City area on pricline..there is a very nice Hyatt right on the water...its considered 3* by priceline...many rooms have nice views of the city. I would try bidding about $40...judging from the posts I've seen from winning bidders at www.biddingfortravel.com Countdown to the Voyager out of NYC
