NCL Sun Viking Deck - Balcony cabin

S&B

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me about the a balcony cabin on the Viking Deck? It would be above the atrium. Probably around 8224. Is there alot of noise? We would not be over the casino. I already have a great Aft cabin (9277) but there has been alot of comment about the soot that we could enounter. This is a cruise to SA so we could have some high winds.

Thanks for any advice.

The Viking Deck does have public areas underneath most of the cabins. I think the Kids Zone is below the aft penthouses. IMO, the Fjord Deck (where you are currently) is the best deck because there are no public areas above or below. The soot problem can happen on any aft balcony and is largely dependent on wind and other weather conditions. I would stay where you are.

Thanks Isles,

If I change cabins I would change to a more forward balcony cabin. I go to the NCL website frequently and I have noticed that all the aft cabins sold out quickly. We are still nine months away from sailing. So if I keep that aft cabin "we will all be in the same boat together" at the back of the ship.

Happy sailing on your upcoming cruise.

I my view you would be crazy to move to a forward balcony from the aft balcony. The limited chance of a little soot one day would not be a reason to give up a protected balcony out of the wind and rain you can use everyday including sea days.

I was just in Cabin #8060 on the Sun’s Viking Deck. That cabin was above the shops. It was perfectly quite, nice, and in a good location (easy access to get around the ship). I've seen a mix of responses on the soot / smoke / whatever else issues on the aft cabins. It seems dependent on a number of "environmental" factors, but people generally seem to covet (the concept anyway of) an aft balcony.

Indeed, we recently upgraded to an aft cabin on NCL Jade this summer. So, I too am hoping it will be a good experience. :)
