Villefranche - why bus 100 and not 82/112?

I am looking at options for travel from Villefranche to Eze Village. Can someone who has been to Villefranche explain to me why it is always bus #100 that is recommended (either to Nice and change or to Eze Bord sur Mer and change) and not bus #82/112? It appears from lignedazur.com that 82/112 runs along the Moyenne Corniche. From maps of Villefranche it also appears that in distance it is not too far from port to Moyenne Corniche (maybe 20 min walk). I suspect, however, that that may be 20 min straight up hill. I don't mind walking but...... Can someone who's been there advise?
