Follow this link to TripAdvisor (parent company of CruiseCritic). At this link you will find what is known as "Trappers List". It is a restaurant list generated by people who love Cabo. It is also a very active forum of information about the Cabo San Lucas area. There is also a specific board there for Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. You just have to hunt around a little for them. Each board will have "regulars" as well as "Destination Experts" (long time, very active regulars) who can help you with anything you need.

I can personally recommend "Macombo's" or "Crazy Lobster" for seafood in Cabo. Crazy Lobster is just a couple of blocks off the Marina area on Hidalgo (aka restaurant row). Macombo's is a little further down the main drag on another side street behind "El Squid Roe" (which is easy to spot). You could walk to Crazy Lobster in about 40 min from the tender pier or take a cab. For Macombo's, probably better to take a cab. Place doesn't look like much, but the seafood is excellent. Last time, in Feb, I had an entire grilled Sea Bass (about 3 pounds) for $20.

Here is also a link to a map that will help you get oriented. Play with the map (it is drag-able and zoom-able), it is awesome. If you play with it enough, it will show you where these restaurants are.

I can also recommend "Mi Casa" in Cabo (also on the list) for really good mexican food in a very unique and beautiful setting. It does have the reputation however of sometimes running hot and cold (from excellent to ok). I have always had a good meal there. The "mole" is always very good. It is close to the Crazy Lobster but on a different back street. Again, its on the map.

This list is in alphabetical order. El Arrayan has been a consistant award winner in the "authentic" mexican food category but they have limited hours.

And also in Puerto Vallarta...

La Chata on the Malecon (Mexican)- often with Mexican music.

Lagostines on Playa los Muertes-all kinds of food.

Mariscos Polo (seafood) in Old Town

Agave Grill, one block from Malecon, also nice tequila shop.

Agave Grill and La Chata are awesome! We also enjoyed the food and the view at Vista Grill.

A guy I work with was in PV in February. He says there's a place called

Ay Carumba(sp?) that was really good. He's not sure exactly where it is, just ask a taxi driver to get you there.
