How much motion will we feel front of ship?

We have a family ocean view stateroom at the front of the ship. I am wondering how much motion of the ocean we will feel, mostly at night as I doubt we plan to spend much time in there during the day!

My first cruise was near the very front of the ship and I didn't notice alot of motion. Sometimes there would be a gentle rocking at night, but nothing of any concern. I've heard the center has the least motion, but I haven't noticed much difference, maybe if the waters were rough.

you will notice motion only if the weather and seas are rough and the ship is heading into the waves. That is when you get the pitching motion of the bow moving up and down as it plows through the waves. And that is when you may get the most noise as the waves pound the bow of the ship. In most cases, as someone already posted, the movement will lull you to sleep.

If the seas are rough you are likely to feel every wave. On our last two cruises we were the 5th or 6th cabin from the front and both times we had at least one night of bad weather (8-10 ft. waves). We were even being thrown against both sides of the hallway walls while trying to walk back to our cabin. I love cruising so much I found that even that was an adventure for me. If you want a cabin toward the front, take it. You have a 50-50 chance that you will have great weather throughout the whole trip.

Hi Wendy,

I do not believe that you will feel the motion at all.

Enjoy your cruise.:D

I think this would depend on where you are cruising, how large a ship, and the time of year. Most of our cruises are in the Carribbean in winter and we always have a few bad weather days. If movement of the ship bothers you if on a smaller ship those cabins will really bother you. If you have cruised before think about how it feels in the theater during rough seas. I love rough seas when I am awake, but I like my cabin midship. I didn't feel any movement anywhere on the Voyager and we had rough seas. It is just so big it takes higher waves to move it. Those big guys are like being on land.
