Advice on getting to Portofino from Santa Margherita ?

Hello, we're on Ventura in Jul and stop in Santa Margherita. I wondered if it's easy to get to Portofino on foot or perhaps by bus from the ship rather than take a tour?

Thoughts or advice would be much appreciated, thanks. :)

Not sure about buses but you can take a launch from the quay neer where the tenders dock. We were there last year on the Arcadia and found it very easy to get to this way.

I booked an excursion for Portofino which took us from the quayside to a small village called Camougli and then on to Portofino and it was amazing. I could have stayed in Camougli all day, it was beautiful , and then finished off swimming in Santa Margherita, not far from the ship.

I wouldn't worry about a tour if it is only Portofino you want to see. Get the little motor launch taxi service accross the water, it is a regular service, or was!

 

Portofino is probably one of the nicest places to sit outside and have a meal.

 

A local taxi can take you back to the ship via the scenic routes and won't cost as much as you would pay for a tour.

Last year we used the local bus service from Portofino to Santa Margherita it was 1 Euro each way and I think there were about 2 or 3 buses per hour.

You can also get the bus from Santa Margherita to Rapallo in the other direction.
