scperk Posted April 30, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2008 They have gaming lessons the first sea day...usually just before the casino opens...check your capers on board or go thru the casino just after you board and ask one of the casino employees...Dennis

A good one that I have used in the past can be found here: http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bst/ Just click on the "Strategy Trainer" link on the left and follow the instructions. Learning the proper game strategy is much cheaper doing it free on-line rather than doing it on the fly at the table using real money. In addition, a tutorial like the one above will give you the best strategy for each hand based on statistical analysis.
SpacemanSpiff Posted April 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2008 Also, be aware that the blackjack tables labelled "Fun 21" is a different version of blackjack -- all the queens are removed, so the odds are not the same as standard blackjack. If you want to practice this version, see if your tutorial program can handle "Spanish blackjack," which is the same thing. Not saying one is better than the other, but the odds and strategy are different.
marcia014 Posted April 30, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2008 I had fun attending the gaming lessons on the Fascination in January. There was a casino host dedicated to the lessons and gave the rules, payouts and explanations regarding blackjack, roulette, and craps. When we finished, everyone who attended the whole tutorial (about 40 minutes) was given a $5 free play to use in any of the newly explained games. ctr5000 Posted April 30, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2008 OK, I tried the tutorial and it was fun but which game options do Carnival cruises employ/allow? Dealer stands/hits on soft 17? Double any card/10 or 11/9,10, or 11? Double/No double after split? No/Early/Late Surrender? Etc. And what's the Deck # about?

FINALLY......someone gets it about Fun 21 !!! Be aware that if this is the game you chose to play, you had better learn basic strategy and be prepared for the 'Blackjack Players' to tell you how badly you play. A basic strategy chart can be found at wizardofodds.com Lean it and laugh yourself silly all the way to the bank!
