nhcruiser Posted October 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2004 As reported today in a no so timely review of the Diamond Princess Inaugural, "Personal Choice dining rooms required reservations." The alternative to no reservation was a 9 PM seating or the buffet. Is this the case as well on the Golden Princess? We will be boarding on Sunday and any input is greatly appreciated! Nitemare Posted October 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2004 Depends on the cruise. There have been reports here of little or no wait the entire cruise, other reports of 20-30 minute waits at 7:30-8PM or even longer.
Jesseer Posted October 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2004 We just got off the Golden this Sunday and didnt have any problems with the anytime dining. We eat early and tended to be in the dining room between 6 & 6:30 and always were seated right away. Once 7:30 or so came around they were packed and they handed out beepers so you could go off and do something while waiting.
nhcruiser Posted October 6, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Thank you both for the insight! Based on your information we will plan to eat early, before 7:30, or late, after 8 or 8:30. Since most of our cruises have been on Sun Class ships, where Personal Choice is handled well, and from your input also handled well on the Grand Class ships. I wonder why Personal Choice dining is such a problem on on the larger Diamond Class ships? Thank You again! Rod
chrischill Posted October 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Sailed on the Golden in Sept. (around the hurricanes) never had to wait for seating in any dining room. We always shared with large table. I think tables for 2 may have had a short wait. We ate at varied times and always were seated right away. nhcruiser Posted October 6, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Good point chrischill! We also are never fussy about table size and always accept, if asked to join a large table of new people. It has been our experience that by the latter part of the cruise we seem to get seated with at least some of the same people each night. Guess we are creatures of habit too!
