WIT Posted May 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2008 We are rying to weigh spending a day touring Cesky Krumlov. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks. We spent a half day there 12/06 and did not have enough time. It is the best preserved medieval town in Europe. bz Posted May 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2008 On a GCT riverboat tour 2 yrs ago we were unable to get on the boat the day we were supposed to & we overnighted in Kresky Kumlov & it was wonderful, esp. at night with the castle complex lit up. Trash Queen Posted May 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2008 By all means, go to Cesky Krumlov, but not just for a day. Do plan to spend at least two nights there; it's a wonderful town. The Hotel Ruse (pronounced Rose) is a great place to stay. The castle looks like a wedding cake, and it's the only castle around with all the original stuff (not furnishings of the period, but from the people who lived in the castle). The bears who live in the moat are descendants of the original bears who protected the castle. We've spent four days in Cesky Krumlov twice, and would go again in a heartbeat. charlotte
nyfeds Posted May 6, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted May 6, 2008 Thanks to all who responded. Unfortunately, we only have one day to visit Cesky Krumlov; the day prior to our return home. Your trip is fast approaching, kite. Have a wonderful time.
