eldercruser Posted May 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2008 We have just been notified of a $10/day/person fuel surcharge for our June river cruise on the Amadeus Princess. Since this cruise is essentially a charter by the travel company we booked with, it is hard to tell who is responsible for why we have been notified so late, and several weeks after final payment was due and paid. The travel company says that the cruise line (Lueftner Cruises) just notified them of the increase. The trip/cruise brochure has a disclaimer saying fuel surcharges can be levied, so it appears there is little recourse, but I expect the ship's staff may wind up with some not so happy customers. It would be interesting if others booked with Lueftner this summer on other itineraries have also been assessed a surcharge. Regardless, it is disappointing. halbfl2 Posted May 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2008 That is one of the reasons we have booked w/Vantage. Once you book, that is the price. I don't know who pays any extra fees, but it's not the passenger. I have just rec'd an email from them restating this fact.
