SCDivers Posted May 27, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted May 27, 2008 We just got back and wanted to let everyone know what to expect on the Kayak and Nature adventure. They picked us up in a bus at the pier and then we rode for may 30 mins until we went down a little dirt road then the bus pulled over and let us out. We were greated by the guide who told us to get in a small van then we rode for about another 30 mins. Finally at the beach we got in the Kayaks and went through the mangroves. Its about 2.5 miles down the little river. Very hot and there was very little shade. Make sure you take comfy clothes and sunscreen with insect repellant. Finally at the end of the kayak ride you get to the beach where they feed you sandwiches and apples. There are some raccoons that show up for lunch. They will eat the bread right out of your hands. You have about an hour to play in the water. Very pretty beach, well worth the trip. After that you walk down some wooden walkways and the guide points out native flowers and plants. It is a leisurely stroll. Nothing strenuous. Then you walk to the caves. They are not very far, just cross the street from the beach and you are there. Then the guide drove us back to the ship. We had a lot of fun. My original question before we went was what clothes and shoes to take. I wore a bathing suit with a tank top and short wrap and flip flops. My husband wore bathing suit, t-shirt and flip flops. Make sure you have sunscreen with insect repellant, sunglasses, hat if you like and bottle water.
