Visa questions for Tangier Morocco ?

My friend is a Guatemala citizen goin on the brilliance of the seas on may19th , we looked on the embassy website and they require visas for GUA citizens, do they really check in Morocco ? do we really need one since we are part of a cruise and there for such a short time? we were in the bahamas and they required the same thing, and we got a visa , but never checked?

Oh yes, they really check, however since you're on a cruise and will only be there for a day you may not need one. We didn't need a visa for Turkey or Egypt on our cruise. We took the fast ferry for a day trip from Spain to Tangiers and had to buy a visa on board the ferry.
