Lady_Krystal Posted October 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Hi, I am sailing on NOS in 3 weeks and our stop to Cayman was canceled. I would appecite it if anyone could help point me in the right direction to find where I could do any of these activities (or a combo of them) in cozumel: Glass Bottom Boat ride, AtV (not dune buggies), and/or snorkling. Also is there anywhere to swim with sea lions? I know the dolphin swim is outside our budget. Thank you in advance for any help. ~Lady K
jean-lynd Posted October 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2004 They have a sealion swim at Chankanuba but I think it costs about the same as the dolphins. You can also snorkel there. I hope this helps!
bruce-r Posted October 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2004 Check these two web sites: cozumelinsider.com Travelnotes.cc Yes, Chankanaab park does offer sealion swims, but they are much less expensive than the dolphin swims. Admission to the park is $12 US, cash only. The taxi fare there depends on where you dock, somewhere in the $10-$12 dollar range per taxi.
CozSally Posted October 7, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2004 The best snorkeling in Cozumel in my opinion is at Dzul Ha. Just grab a taxi at the pier. The ride is $7 for up to 4 passengers regardless of your pier. You can rent gear there, have a drink and/or snack, and leave when you wish. There's no entry fee as long as you eat or drink. Staking out an actual table under a palapa (thatched roof) usually requires a $15 minimum, which is not hard to do if you are eating. Snorkeling always makes me hungry so food is a necessity for me anyway. Another alternative for snorkeling is a tour. My recommendations are either Eagle Ray Divers or Mayan Paradise. Mayan Paradise also offers snuba for those who want to "get under". I don't know the indepedent glass bottom boat outfits although they exist. There will certainly be an option to do that through the cruiseline. There will also be an ATV tour through the ship as well. Hope that helps, and welcome, in advance, to Cozumel! zydecocruiser Posted October 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2004 Dolphins and sealions... http://www.dolphindiscovery.com/cozumel.asp I went with Eagle Ray last month and had a really good time. They took me out even though I was the ONLY person on the boat that day. williamarmour Posted October 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2004 re. snorkelling in cozumel. we were there two weeks ago and were unfortunate to take the Snorkelling Safari/Glass Bottom Boat excursion from the ship [galaxy] organised by CATCH THE WAVES. This excursion consisted of being picked up at the ship's docking pier, sailing around the pier to the opposite side [approx. 1/2 mile] and snorkelling several yards offshore over a mostly dead reef. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS TRIP.
