Taxi or Car Rental???

Just wanting to compare car rental to taxi rates for two people

 

We are coming in one night pre-cruise. Are staying at the El San Juan hotel. Will probably stick around hotel, casino and walking distance on friday night.

 

Saturday morning will probably taxi to Old San Juan, stash luggage somewhere and tour Old San Juan Saturday AM. Then head to Pan Am pier after 12.

 

So..... Taxi from airport to hotel. Taxi from hotel to Old San Juan. Taxi from Old San Juan to Pan Am pier.

 

What can we expect to spend and should we look into renting a car. I would rather not have the hassle and time of renting a car if the taxi rates aren't to high. Plus I'm not sure I want to bother with finding where I need to go.

The taxis rates are fixed and are per taxi (not persons) and luggage is extra. Click the link below for rates. I would not rent a car unless you wanted to leave the area.

Taxis are your best bet, I agree. You'd have to pay parking at the hotel and in OSJ. Also, road signage here is iffy, so you'd probably get lost at least once :) :D .

Go with a taxi if you are just planning on going into OSJ

Thanks for the info. Taxi was kinda the way I was thinking also. Will check out the sites with those rates and also the places to store luggage.

DW and I rented a car the day before the cruise. We went out to the biobay the night we arrive and then drove out to El Yunque the next morning. Taxi fare would be horrendous / impossible. Rental car was $25. Only problem was parking at the hotel - there was NONE. We had to park many many many blocks away.

 

If you're just sticking around OSJ, stick w/ the taxi. If you're wanting to venture out, definitely rent a car.
