What to do in Denali

We just received our itinerary from RCI. We are doing a post cruise tour.

We have one day in Anchorage and 2 days in Denali. The travel time between Anchorage and Denali is 6 hrs. By the time we check in and drop off our luggage it probably will be after 1pm. Do we still have time to tour Denali Park by the on and off shuttle buses to do some hiking? I have heard that the last bus into Denali Park is 2pm is that true? Also some of the hiking tours that are scheduled with the hotel (McKinley Village Lodge)

ends at 1pm. What are some activities we can do? Do we have to reserve them now or can we wait until we get there?

Gina, I would do some light stuff the afternoon you arrive and save the big trip for the second day deep into the park.. Check out the Visitors Center and the Kennels. You migth take the free bus to marker 15 or drive it yourself. Rafting on the river is an option as well. A lot take in the Dinner Theater but we opted to pass since we do a lot of theatre here. Early to bed and early to rise and enjoy your park excursion. Take the bus as far as you think you can stand... the shuttles are less expensive, but you provide your food and drink and the bus seats aren't as padded but I have built-in, not really. TWT is the one if you want guided, NHT isnt a very deep excursion. By the way, we had a mother moose and her baby hanging around the entrance to the park our trip. Enjoy it; we love Alaska and our Radience of the Seas cruise.
