Honeymoon Carnival Spirit Alaska

Just booked my honeymoon on the carnival spirit southband to alaska. I just want some confirmation that I made a good choice. I am not a beach person and neither is my fiance. I will be going in July and picked a guaranteed Balcony because so many people have said it is worth it. This is my second cruise (my first was on the grandeur of the seas RCCL). Please give me all the advice, comfort, and information you can. I would greatly appreciate it. What exactly does it mean to have a guaranteed balcony? My fiance booked the honeymoon so I'm not really sure. Any must do excursions? Any must do activities or shows to see?
