jmpashworth Posted May 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2008 We will be cruising on the Conquest on June 1st. In Grand Cayman, we want to do the Reef and Ray excursion, which is 3 hours long. We heard Seven Mile Beach is real pretty - would we have time to go there on our own after our excursion, and if so, what location options are best? Additionally, we will be stopping in Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel - which is best for snorkeling, and which is best for enjoying the beach? We appreciate any feedback - thanks! henrid Posted May 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2008 We happen to be on your same cruise! We have been to GC for a vacation. Have done both the Rays and Seven mile Beach. If your Ray trip is early, you should have no trouble catching some "rays" at Seven Mile Beach. From what I have read, for cruisers, Sea Grape, which is part of Seven Mile Beach is a good choice - Sorry, can't help with which is best for snorkeling. Nuttycruisegirl Posted May 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2008 I thought the snorkeling was great in Cayman and in Cozumel. We did an early Stingray tour and had time to run around a little. Seven mile beach is not far from the port.
addicted to cruising Posted May 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Water is much better in GC, one of my fav ports. Def make sure you are in it and snorkel. You will tender right to town where 7 mile beach starts...so really if you dont care where you land, then yes, you will be able to do both. Certainly the more time you have will allow you to venture up the beach where some of the resorts are which provides a much better environment. rsldonk Posted May 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Snorkel in Cozumel if you get the chance. You should be able to find a good beach anywhere in the Caribbean, but you will not find many better places for snorkeling than Cozumel.
dmdiver Posted May 16, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2008 I've done 9 dives in GC & it's been the best out of all my diving trips. My other trips were in Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas.
WitchyWoman14 Posted May 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Check out the "Tortuga Rum Cake Factory" on Grand Cayman... YUM! You can carry rum cakes back on the ship and eat them too, no waiting until you depart the ship like you have to with liquor... :D
dmdiver Posted May 16, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Oh yeah, definitely the rum cakes!
cruisersnorkler Posted May 17, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 17, 2008 Cozomel has the best snorkling if you travel by boat about 40 minutes--to the large reefs--Panacar, Colombia--in that area. Grand Cayman's barrier reef is better than Cozomel's shore snorkling hands down.
