pattybakes Posted May 20, 2008 #26 Share Posted May 20, 2008 My Mom, sister, aunt and uncle just got home from the Dream. It was not a nice trip. The weather going over was horrible and very frightening for them, and coming back was not much better. They said that many people were sick and just stayed in their rooms. People just could not walk around because of the boat movement. They are still trying to catch up on their sleep. They did say the ship and staff were wonderful, but the overall weather and traveling conditions were just the worst. I am waiting to hear more myself from them as I was supposed to go on this cruise with them (we did Majesty all together 3 times so we love this trip). They said if I had been with them, I would have been "hysterical"...so I don't know, might be a trip no one is ready to remember or recap just yet! Here is what I have gotten so far: Rooms were very nice and spacious Staff wonderful under the conditions Lots of communication from the Captain assuring them of the storm conditions and what to expect Dining was limited, only one dining room? After hours Top Deck buffet lacked, not staffed, not much selection = could have been weather related Casino is much better then the Majesty, they spent a lot of time there My sister said she was sitting in her room on Deck 7 and a wave came over her balcony going over in the N'Easter Monday Dining rooms were empty - lots of elderly and families with young kids and they just couldn't walk safely My Mom's back is strained from "bracing" against the rocking of the boat Sorry that's all I have....I have been watching this thread too all week so I could hear what they were going thru, I was worried. NHCruisers2007 Posted May 20, 2008 #29 Share Posted May 20, 2008 This St. George webcam is controllable: http://www.rccbermuda.bm/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&control=SetCommunity&CommunityID=282&PageID=0 Is the control on this camera individual? Or are you competing with others that are on the site? I was just trying to use it to see the Dream go through the Town Cut and it seemed to be going all over the place... ?? Thanks! dhkhth Posted May 20, 2008 #30 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I was tryin myself. it kept on going to the building it was on, and I really did not want to see the web cam looking straight up, or straight down. Majesty is still there, I am thinking they are in Hamilton again. Oh well I would have loved to see them dock in St George. My father and sister are on her. I go with them in August. I love storms, I kind of wish I was with them now.

Gram Cape Cod Posted May 20, 2008 #33 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I know how many times I have checked this board looking for a review, can't imagine no one posting yet!! I am leaving on 6/8 and would love to know what is going on with the Dream. I doubt that the weather has been much better this week from what we have been experiencing here. Hope it improves soon for future sailings. Has anyone recouperated yet so we can have an update?:(
brokenarrowhd Posted May 20, 2008 #34 Share Posted May 20, 2008 It makes you wonder why there are no reviews. I also do not think this is the case of "no news is good news".
dhkhth Posted May 20, 2008 #35 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I figure everone is still adjusting to being on solid ground. I just hope they do not blame the staff or the ship for bad weather. Thank you Pattybakes for the update, I hope your family is well. Looking at the weather this week, rain and thunderstorms all week.
Twinsmomct Posted May 20, 2008 #36 Share Posted May 20, 2008 When they have to dock in Hamilton, is it off shore requiring tendering or do they go right up to Front Street? Patty
pattybakes Posted May 20, 2008 #37 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Patty They said they were the only ship at Front St in Hamilton - the Dawn came into the Dockyard. Oh, and NCL canceled ALL of the tours before they got even there and no offer of comp transportation was offered to St George And Mom is complaining of no escargot, lobster, filet mignon night (or Captains Night) Aunt Linda got a ROYAL STRAIGHT FLUSH on a quarter machine and won...........only $63 - as she only played one line or one credit. Wonda what that would have been if she played max credit ????? (see, now the REAL stories are coming out) Patty :D

mskitty331 Posted May 21, 2008 #39 Share Posted May 21, 2008 I can't wait till June 1st comes, I'm really looking forward to this vacation as I have never been to Bermuda before. As for the freestyle is it necessary to bring dress up clothes like dresses and suits, or will a pair of dress slacks and a nice blouse be ok to where during dinner. Is there a captains dinner where we have to dress up.

You can attend EVERY event aboard the ship in Resort Casual, including dinner at the Captain's table if you are so lucky.
