Island Princess balcony question

My parents will be in C528 in mid-June on the Island Princess in Alaska. From a previous thread, I found a wonderful website someone created saying that it would be a "partially covered" balcony. I looked at the pictures, but I'm still not getting a good impression of exactly how much will be covered/size/etc. Can anyone give a girl a hand? :) Thanks!

Aw, c'mon guys---I've seen threads ALMOST about this topic before, so I know someone here on CC can answer this question. I've been a good girl and looked up what type of balcony it will be, I've searched the threads and looked at pics. I still can't figure out what "partially covered" really means. Please?

Hey I can help you, we have just come off the Island Princess from the 19 night Panama trip, our cabin was

B519 so in the same area, partially means just that, only 1/2 the deck is covered by the over hang from the deck above. I think it is better than completely covered as you still get some sun shine in your stateroom. Hope this helps, any other questions?

Since you spent so much time on the Island, can you tell me about her? Any tips or tricks that you can give me for my parents? They've never cruised before, and they're so excited AND so unsure about the whole process. Fav spots on board/problem areas? How's the food and the staff? I'm hoping they have a blast so they'll be willing to go again with me next time. :)

Afternoon tea in the Horizon court buffet, freshly made cookies - very popular when people know about them, and also free ice cream is served here also, three flavours with toppings - yummy. Not advertised so you just have to tune the tummy into ice cream time. Take a jacket to the shows as its quite cool in the theatre, we bought the soda package $4.75 a day + taxes for unlimited soda, coke etc , usually $2.50 a glass, they also do a coffee card, the coffee they serve in the restaurants and buffet would have to be the worse coffee we have ever tasted. we switched to green tea...., we spent many hours lying by the pool on the lido deck, the weather was very warm, apparently the lotus pool is good too, its under cover.

At the art auctions they sometimes auction spa treatments, which you can get a seaweed wrap for about 60$ (usually about $150), at the art auctions they have free champagne, they keep filling your glass....

Bingo was very popular, as was the casino.

Justyna in the explorer lounge bar ( young polish girl) was lovely, and Madi in Facets jewellery store.

The staff are all great, very friendly, as we spent a lot of time wandering around the ship after dinner - we were bored (we are only 40), they seemed to cater for the older crowd more than us younger ones. Disco didnt start until 11.30 at night...
