We will be sailing on the Star Princess on may 25,

we have booked cabin E609 and it says fully obstructed view. What does that mean and does anyone have any pictures of similar rooms on the emerald deck. any tidbits would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jason

By checking the deck plans it looks like E609 is definitely fully obstructed by a lifeboat. Sometimes the deck plans are slightly off, but if it is accurate, the most you will be able to see out your window will be light and dark (in otherwords, you will be able to tell if it is daytime or nitetime outside) but that's about it. An obstructed view by a lifeboat will totally block out any view from that window, that is why these staterooms are lower in price.

We were on the Star in E508 for 23 days, getting off in Seattle on May 4. The lifeboat outside our window, was of such a shape that the cabin was even with the bottom of our window. We had a nice view.

Here are a couple of shots I took out our window. Sorry one is not rotated. The orange in one shot is the stern of the lifeboat.

mrkrpan, don't know about the cabin and not trying to highjack the thread, but we have a Roll Call started for the June 29 Star Princess voyage, would like to have you join.

Thanks, and you get your question answered.

We are on the Star on 6/29 - cabins E601 and E603 - just wanted to confirm, there is no view, but light will come in - anyone please confirm - thanks!!

By looking at the deck plans, E601 will be totally obstructed. E603 may also be but it will have a little better chance of seeing around the lifeboats/tenders then E601.

Again, the deck plans are usually pretty accurate, but sometimes they are off. Now it seems that E605 (next door) might have a pretty good view between the tenders/lifeboats, but not the two you have booked, sorry. :(

Here are pictures of the Star lifeboats. The two on the right are in the E417-E515 staterooms. The next 3 cover staterooms E517-E529.

These three have taller cabins than the first two so the windows of those rooms are blocked by the lifeboats but light would still come in.

I just got off the Star but I had a balcony on Caribe deck 514. If I recall correctly looking down from above there is a good chance your view is blocked by the tenders/lifeboats.

For the best view head up to Skywalkers on Deck 18. You can pretty much see the entire perimeter of the boat.
