MJWisconsin Posted May 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2008 I have been reading the postings and have taken some great advice lately, but a new question has come to mind: Planning on a Helicopter Tour in Juneau in July Most of the Tour companies have two different types of tours. 1.) Mendenhall Glacier Tour 2.) Pilot's Choice / Four Glacier Tour (about 100-150 dollars more) From what I have seen on maps, and videos on You Tube, the Mendenhall Glacier appears to be a quick short ride. While the other Glacier tour (option 2) looks like a longer more scenic trip. Has anyone taken both? Is the 2nd option worth the money? Or any thoughts in general about the trips would be appreciated. Thanks! Matt
Budget Queen Posted May 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2008 I have gone on both. Essentially, the difference is time. Glaciers are unique and in a constant state of change, so none are "better" than others in my opinion. Certainly longer is better, but at an additional cost. I recommend if it does not impact on you taking other tours, it's a great choice. But if you have to cut back and forego another tour, I think it's best to have varied experiences.
