OKGIRL VALOR 5/11 PART-2

We have our own little rituals when we first get on the ship which is to head straight to a piece of pizza, a ceasar salad and the 1st of many double spicy Bimmie’s (that would be Bloody Mary to all of you non-Conquest Crazies out there) BTW, let me make a shameless sales pitch here for our CC Group Cruise on the Conquest on 9/20/09…….Mach got our deposit deadline extended to June 5th, so you still have time to join us…….Check out our thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=700873 You can be a crazies too…. We have 200+ Committed Conquest Crazies joining us.

Okay, so where was I, Oh that’s right the 1st of MANY Bimmies. Donna and I finished our snack and wandered up to our cabin, we were a little concerned being up on the Panorama deck since we knew were in the Washington DR, and the whole issue of can’t get from front to back stuff, but it actually worked out really well. First it’s really quiet up there, since there are only balcony passenger cabins on the forward part of this deck. Our balcony cabin 1063 was on the starboard side, 3 forward of the atrium elevators and the sliding doors leading out to the hot tub and overlooking the mid-ship pool. We’re not sun people, but if we were this would have been a great choice of location for a cabin. The new big screen theater is right there, the main stage and all of the daytime action.

If we wanted to go to the Lido, we just went outside to the mid ship elevator lobby down the stairs and we were right in Rosie’s. For dinner since we were in the aft DR it is our habit to go down to the Promenade to people watch and have a cocktail at one of the bars before proceeding down to deck 4. We were given the 8:15 dinning time in the Upper level of the Washington DR at table 575 which is a 2 top. It was a great table right against the edge so we had a nice view of all of the activities. We had Z as our waiter and he was excellent, would have to say his assistant wasn’t so great and he kept disappearing, poor Z was left to cover about 25 people by himself but he did an excellent job and we never had much of a wait.

One of the most exciting things that we encountered was an old friend from the Glory. Catherine Cruz, she was a bartender at the martini bar on the Glory and on the 1st trip past the Casino bar, we heard “Ms. Beverly (my S&S name), Ms. Donna.” Now that was a real treat and a great surprise. It is the 1st time in all of our cruises that we actually saw someone we recognized and were remembered by a crew member. We had a great time visiting with her and catching up about her family (her husband is a waiter in the Washington DR) they’ve been on the Valor for 2 weeks. So look her up, she’s from the Philippine’s and can either be found at the Casino bar or in the IvanHoe theater. Tell her Ms’s Beverly & Donna said hi!

Food all week was excellent, but Donna was disappointed that she never found her beloved Hay and Straw on the menu. We opted not to do formal night’s this cruise but went to Rosie’s instead. With the new relaxed dress code we did see more capri’s on women and jeans on men, but on Formal nights there seemed to be lots of people dressed up. I didn’t see anyone at any time in the DR dressed inappropriately.

Part 3 to follow re: Shore excursions........Oh and the $1000 that I won on the Wheel of Fortune the 1st night :D
