Brilliance or Millennium for Med Cruise in Oct 2005?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been on either one of these ships for the Med. cruise? We are considering each and would appreciate any input from those who have been on either/or both of these Med. cruises.

Also, what is the time of the late dinner seating on the Brilliance? I know it is at 8:30 on the Millie. We usually take the early seating on cruises, but since the ships leave after 7:00 pm from most ports on this cruise, I figured it would be best to eat late. Any comments?

What type of weather do you usually expect during late October and early November in the Med. area?

Any info anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated!

I was on Millennium for a Southern Caribbean cruise 2 years ago and I will be on Brilliance in the Mediterranean next year. I can tell you that Millennium is a beautiful ship. And although I've not been on her yet, I've heard wonderful things about Brilliance. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. You'll have a terrific time on either of these ships. I say pick the ship with the itinerary you like the most and have a great cruise.

Enjoy!

The Brilliance med cruise is being featured by the travel channel on Oct. 14th, there are a couple of threads going now about it. For myself, we cruised the 11 day carribbean on the Brilliance this year and she's become my favorite ship. Just a stunning cruise all around, best service and food was very good. Layout is nice too.

I have been on both and you can't go wrong on either.

We did the Millennium on a Transatlantic Barcelona - Ft. Lauderdale.

Brilliance on an 11 day Ultimate Carribean

The ambience on the Mille seemed more formal, BEAUTIFUL SHIP WITH EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE, the age group on this 14 dayer was somewhat older. Loved having lunch in the Solarium with cooked to order salmon or healthy choice prepared foods each day.

Brilliance seemed to have a more relaxed atmosphere with a younger group.

LOVED the Concierge perks , Scooner bar, Portofinos, and Chops. Also had a murder mystery dinner which we totally enjoyed. Casino staff so much fun!

Hope this helps and doesn't totally confuse you. It just depends on what is important to you, and what cruise you want to go on.

Thanks for the info on the two ships. I really appreciate it.

Does anyone know what time the late dinner seating is on the Brilliance when she is in the Mediterranean?

Do you need to take fall clothes for a Med. cruise during October or the first week of November?

Jan,

we will be leaving Friday for our Brilliance OTS cruise in the Med. The weather seems to be in the low to mid 70's for the highs and the 50's for the lows. I should be able to answer some of your questions when we return at the end of the month. The Brilliance does have two different itinerarys in the Med. One which does Venice and one which does Greece. You would have to choose which one you would want to do. I think the Millie does some of both and is a one way trip not a round trip like Brilliance's is. I am sure either trip would be great.

We cruised on the Brilliance this past June on the Med. The ship is gorgeous. We have also been in the Infinity, which is is the sister ship to the Millie.

I doubt you would go wrong with either one.

As for the dinner times, there were four - 6:30, 7:00, 8:30 and 9:00. I believe this is for the Med. only. We had the 7 pm dinner, which worked very well for us. We would get back to the ship in time to have a 1/2 hour or so rest before having to get ready for dinner.

I would also recommend the private excursions rather than the ship ones, but do not make plans with anyone for the other ship even though you'll be in port at the same time.

The person who organized one of our excursions did this and the others didn't show up. We lost nearly an hour waiting for them and the cost of the excursion doubled.

Back to the dining times, the only real problem with the 4 times was the noise level. Although the dining room always seems to be somewhat noisey, this time it was noisier than usual. Just something to bear in mind.
