CateW Posted May 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2008 We haven't been either and are going in a couple of weeks. From what I've read, you have to pay to get into the casino. I'm anxious for someone to confirm that.

WeBeGone Posted May 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2008 We were there in Dec. about 3 in the afternoon. I wore slacks and a jacket, and my husband wore dockers with a jacket. No tennis shoes. Tuxs are required after 9pm. It cost 10 euros per person. NO cameras are allowed inside. They actually take them and store them for you. There were table games but the minimum bid was $50. There were slot machines and we played those. Payouts are in euros. There is an ATM. WE loved the casino. The rooms are magnificently decorated. It was quite a treat. I only wish we would have had more than an hour.

Mike073 Posted May 26, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Being there last week just before the race - Tuxes are not needed, but a coat and tie are after 10:30. 10 euro to get in. The ship had our passports so they used our drivers license for entry. Citizens of Monaco cannot enter the casino. Apparently with all the benefits their citizens are given by the government, they do not want them gambling it away. The place was the biggest disappointment I have ever had. Compared to the biggest dump in Las Vegas, that place seems like a morgue. It looked nice, but other than that it was lifeless. However, I did win 67 euro on the slot machine. For two of us: 20 euro to enter, forty euro in chips, with my 10 euro cab ride back to the ship, it cost me 3 euro total! There is a boat shuttle across the port, but it stops at 8:00 PM. Cheers! Do go across the street to the Hotel Paris. It is worth seeing.
texancruzer Posted May 26, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Or even better.....get an outside table at the Cafe De Paris also right outside the casino entrance (across from the Hotel De Paris) and order a coffee and crepe. This is a prime spot to sit and relax a bit and people watch..... the absurdly rich ones going and coming in their Bentleys, Alfa Romeos, Rolls Royces etc... and the tourists watching them..... quite a show :D

Glad I went but would never go back again. Such a rip off but you're in France and James Bond played there.

Leejnd4 Posted May 29, 2008 #17 Share Posted May 29, 2008 No jackets before 10 pm That's correct. (Sorry - didn't notice the post above the one I replied to, asking about clothes during the day.) I never saw a line to get in.
