mikjr Posted May 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2008 We're taking our first HAL cruise in September and looking forward to it! We've cruised mostly with Princess and Celebrity. Both cruiselines have special food events (not like I need MORE food), and I'm curious as to what we can expect on HAL in this area. For example: 1) High Tea every afternoon 2) Midnight Buffet (usually once during the last week of the cruise) 3) Chocolate Madness Buffet (everything chocolate!) 4) Special themed food and party events around the pool at night thanks in advance... Sir PMP Posted May 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2008 Just got back from a 24 day cruise in Europe on the Zuiderdam: High tea every day in the dining room at 3.30pm, plus twice a special Indonesian tea. Midnight buffet every night at 11.00, with a different theme: portugese, greek, italian etc. Dessert extravaganza, twice at 11.00pm Two Pool parties around the Lido pool
sassyredhat Posted May 30, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2008 You have to go to the dessert extravaganza !!! The one on Zaandam was spectacular. If I wasn't computer challenged, I'd post my pictures. :) Pat
welove2cruise232 Posted May 31, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2008 There will probably be a wine dinner in the Pinnacle Grill -- it's well worth the cost!
kakalina Posted May 31, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2008 We are taking the same cruise as the OP. We took this cruise last Jan/Feb and the offered a dinner murder mystery in the PG. It was sold out very quickly. The cast acted out the parts and sat at the tables with the guests and someone at possibly your table was the murderer. It sold for about $70pp and included unlimited wine. Perhaps they will try that again.

Also there will be a Royal Dutch Tea. Not all the desserts are chocolate at the extravaganza. Some are held in the Lido itself. On some ships we have had them around the Lido pool. You may or may not have the Master Chef Dinner -- again - varies by ship. BBQ by the pool. The daily program will list the evening's 11 PM snack theme.
