Cruise Documents question

Recommended Posts

When we booked our May 16th cruise back a couple of months ago, I'm almost sure I was told we wouldn't get actual cruise documents this time, but something equivalent to an E-document. Was I dreaming or was I actually told this. Is this the norm on Royal Carb. now. Its been a year since I sailed on RCCL, and we got regular documents then.

If you booked with an online agent you may receive E-docs. The cruiselines do still mail hard copy documents but some of the online agents use E-docs instead.

I booked my cruise a month before the sailing date (3/28/04) via the internet company. I received a booklet, with our names in print, forms and tags for our luggages 2 weeks before the sail date.

I think you are talking about the Guest Information Forms. Remember to fill them out online to expedite your boarding process.

No, there is such a thing as E-Docs. Just like an e-ticket for the airlines. You apparantly get the docs in an e-mail and print it out. You get everything except your luggage tags, which you will get at the pier. Should work just like a ticket you would get via snail-mail.

Thanks everyone, I thought thats what I was told about the documents. Do you know when they would be sent? I know usually for hard documents, you would get them about a month out, so how about e-docs?

I got E-Docs this year for the first time. Once you rpint them out, they are the same as the regular docs EXCEPT they don't have pre printed luggage tags. What they have is the information that needs to go on your luggage tag. We gave that info to the skycap (or is it a seacap?) at the dock, and he took it from there. Everything went smooth and there were no problems.

We were told by our TA that the paper copies or books of tickets would soon be a thing of the past. As all are going to E-tickets in the future. One more way to cut cost.

I receive edocs because they won't ship to a PO Box.

The last 4 times on RCCL I booked inside and got upgraded to outside so would have different tags, anyway,

Never had a problem...
