Just want to clarify for myself...I can gift myself casino credits...cash them in and credit toward my on-board account...

To confirm, at that point, I can exchange the money between my on-board account and casino chips whenever I want without the 3% charge?

We tried to get two robes with our points. They wanted to know the date of our next cruise so as they could be delivered to the room. At that time we didnt have one planned. Canceled it. Dont cruise a whole lot and got better perks on another card that we could USE when wanting to redeem points and stuff.

But like I said before. It was great to check off the ship and nothing was owed by doing what the topic is about.

Of course you are correct - I won't use the card unless I have a cruise already planned and then it's best to only charge to Princess for the 2 points per $1 charge.

I had to charge a bit of misc. to 'top off' my rewards points & the points bonus for taking out the card was a big boost - both my husband and I did take out the card - so 10,000 Rewards Points were 'free'.

IMHO - The best 'bang for the buck' is 'cash back' for the Rewards Points........save $$ and buy your own souveniers! :p

What we did in Aug or Sept before our cruise in Oct. Was print out the celebrations form. Put on there that we wanted to put X amount onboard credit and here is the cc #. We wrote on there "as to be on credit for the balance after cruise" It was nice because we owed nothing at the end. We had it pretty much figured out to the dollar.

It worked then and we hope we can do it again for our next cruise.

Hope that helps.

To your reply. We put on 1200.00

I love this idea, but have one question. If you gift yourself, say, $1000 in an OBC, will they still ask you for a credit/debit card at embarkation? I'd prefer to prepay our account and take less cash/traveler's cheques with us when we travel...and use the cards for on shore purposes.

Once you establish a password account on a slot machine you can deposit and withdraw money from the shipboard account with no fee.

Normally yes, they will still ask for an imprint of your credit card to secure your shipboard charges. But if you don't go over your amount of what you sent for onboard credit, nothing will be charged at the end of the sailing.
