Can I use OBC for casino chips ?

I have never bet in a ship's casino, so I need some help here. Can I use my on board credits for chips? Can I cash my winnings in (no sense not being positive here;) ) for cash, or does the money go back in my onboard account?

You can use the OBC for anything that you want, casino chips, shore excursions, gratuities, or just cash it out and spend it.

It's real money.

You can even use it to purchase anything in the on board store!

Jan,

Is that right? Could I go to the front desk and just ask for cash for any OBC I have - whether it came from the cruise line itself or my travel agent?

No sorry, it has to be used on board as a credit, BUT there are many venues to use it on!!

Sorry, but I'm still confused. When you're done playing in the casino, and you turn in your chips, do you get cash or do you get a credit to your onboard account?

Assuming the system is the same as on Celebrity, you get cash when you turn in your chips in the casino.

TGG your original question was can you ask for your on board credit be given to you in cash and that answer is no..if you buy chips and then go to turn them in you do get cash BUT your on board credit is still on the books and the money you originally took out is still billed to you....you do not get the OBC in cash in the casino..you casino bill is against your account..hope this helps.

Hi Jan,

My original question was NOT can I ask for the OBC in cash - but is quoted above. Then another poster said I could just cash it out and spend it - but then you told me I couldn't do that. So perhaps you could walk me through an example. Let's say that I have $500 OBC. I go to the casino and get $500 in chips which are charged to my account. That would wipe out my OBC. I then win $100, so I have $600 in chips. I take them to the place where I got them and turn them in, at which time they give me $600 in cash.

Do I have it right yet:confused: ? I hate to sound really stupid about this but it is all new to me.

Yep, they are right..I was just going about it from a different angle..Im sorry..I thought you wanted to go to the desk and ask for $500..that would be a no (I believe)

When are you going on A..I am looking forward to my 2nd trip!

We liked our trip on Azamara so much this winter that we're taking our second Azamara cruise in August. After several cruises on Renaissance and Oceania, I see Azamara as a viable alternative. The ship size is perfect for us and the port intensive itineraries are what we look for. Whatever startup problems they had have, I think, been overcome.

Enjoy your cruise Jan.
