What are perks of a suite?

We just got back from PoAm and were in an AA owners suite so I dont know at what level these perks start at but these are some of the great things included for us anyway:

Priority check in at the pier (but we were NOT escorted onto the ship because our butler was "busy" but lots of other people were! not a big deal we are quite capable of finding the ship hehe but it was annoying that we were skipped)

Breakfasts and lunch completely free every day at the steakhouse (on the poAm it was Lazy Js) we took full advantage of that and ate there almost every breakfast and several lunches. On the PoAm that was exclusive to concierge level guests only. (We had lunch there the first day we boarded even though several people told us it started on the second day but we went down and found that it was open)

Being able to order almost anything (with the obvious limitations others have already pointed out) to be delivered to our room. We didnt actally order antyhing except our suite treats cuz we liked going to the restaurants.

Completely unlimited and free soda, bottled water (regular and sparkling). - I kept getting nervous about this and kept checking my booking information LOL cuz we drank a lot of rum and cokes.

Suite treats delivered every day which i outlined in your other post.

VIP tender tickets which were delivered the night before and let you go to the front of the line. We didnt have to go to get tickets and wait in a big line in the ballroom to be escorted down. We just went down.

About the ammenities in the cabin... we were told they ran out of the Francis Denny stuff and the butler brought us a bag of little shampoo/conditioner/soap etc from the gift shop. We werent charged for it. Normally we would bring our own but specifically didnt since it was all supposed to be included.

If you have a concierge they will do whatever you want including booking spa appts and dinner reservations etc... this was actually a pain in the tush for us and we found it completely unnecessary.. when we boarded we went up to the concierge VIP meet and greet and basically they had a representative there from each department to book the stuff for you. We were able to book our dinners for the entire week but ended up cancelling them all basically. And the only spa appointment we booked turned out to be set up wrong and we ended up in a fight over $140 cancellation fee when THEY were unable to provide the service they booked.

We found the concierge to be actally 100% completely useless and more of an annoyance than anything. The only time we really saw him was on the last morning when he was sucking up to everyone at breakfast. Our butler was nice but the only time we saw him was when he delivered the suite treats and the replacement sodas and water... I guess we are just pretty self sufficient...

We were in an AD forward suite on the Sun.

The absolute best part was the breakfast and lunch in Il Addagio. Great food served in a quiet atmosphere with beautiful views. I assume a similar room is reserved on other ships.

Also, your Concierge will make impossible/difficult reservations on the fly.

Hi Deadskins..What AD suite were you in? We had #9202 for the 19 day (April 19th to May 9th) Panama Canal cruise. We loved it!

The tender tickets given to VIP's entitle you to board outbound from the ship to the pier only. The important thing to remember is, they board you when you arrive, or when a fresh tender returns to the ship. This can often mean you're seated on the tender first, and have to wait a considerable amount of time for the tender to fill and for it to depart. On the larger ferries they use, this can often mean sitting and rocking along side the ship for up to 20 - 30 minutes.

Ideal situation is to arrive at the VIP platform on the ship, assess the crowd, and request to be loaded as the tender (ferry) begins to reach capacity. This way you don't get squashed in line, and you have minimum wait time for the tender to depart.

Making you way back to the ship, it's every person for themself.

In addition to the "Welcome Aboard" glass of bubbly, you will have a bottle of bubbly on ice in your suite on embarkation day and an invite to the Captain's VIP Cocktail Party, which includes drinks and munchies.

Question regarding Captain's VIP Cocktail Party. Is the vip cocktail party for suite guests and lattitudes members (Wouldn't make sense to have 2 seperate)

Also, what is the norm attire for the Cocktail Party?

Thanks

Nice,

The water sounds pretty good from the tap anyhow! What about rom service, i keep hearing that one can order anything anytime? What restrictions to this statement would apply to an AE cat suite?

Surley we cannot order sushi, steak and eggs, any dessert, -you get my idea :-)

can someone ellaborate please?

I had eggs benedict (wrote it in) in the room twice when we had early morning shore excursions. Wonderful Butler Maurice delivered it to us.

BTW: yes, you can order from room service at any time ... during butler's hours he will answer the *Butler* call (no room service number will be in your room or on your phone .. only *Butler*). If it is after Butler's hours, your call will automatically go over to Room Service. The Butlers work sooooo many hours that he will probably be the one to get your call.

Now, as for ordering *anything* at anytime. I don't know. We had no need to be eating much of anything after about 8 pm so for us it was not a problem; and we tried to eat on the light side during the day.

You do get your fruit bowl replenished twice a day. Maurice found out we liked grapes on the first day and after that we had fresh grapes all the time. Yummy!

You will also get to select from the *Suite Sweets* menu as to what you would like delivered to your room (either at 5 pm or 8 pm) each evening ... everything from chips/salsa to chocolate covered strawberries. We had so much food building up that we requested Maurice stop bringing stuff. :o

On our June Jewel cruise (12-day), we had 3 cocktail parties: one for all Latitude guests, one for higher-up Latitude guests and one for Suite/VIP guests. Attire was whatever you are wearing to dinner that night ... business casual to dressy.

The Captain's VIP Cocktail party is for suite guests (Penthouse and higher) and, I believe, Gold & Platinum Latitudes pax are also invited to this.

Wear what you would wear to dinner. On my past cruises, the party was held on the "dress up or not (optional formal)" night, so pax tended to be dressier.

I just want to verify this - sodas are refilled without charge in the suites? I've read about this but didn't know what category this starts with (we are in an AB next week).

We were in an AA in May on PoAm... soda and bottled water (evian and pelligrino) were 100% free refills... we just took cans with us to dinner or lunch so we didnt have to order them from the bar or whatever... I was nervous about it I always am when something seems to good to be true <G>... we also asked for a pitcher of cranberry juice and they kept that filled the entire cruise for free as well.. we drank about 4 pitchers of it...

The suite treats were great too... for us they were small so I wouldnt worry about stuff stacking up.. at least thats just us maybe we are big eaters <G>... you get a card in your room and you pick early or late (i think it was 5 pm or 10 pm) we always chose 5 and they always came at 4 lol... we picked somethign new every day just to try different things.. the brownies were great and the chips and salsa were good... there are also chocolate covered strawberries, regular potato chips, veggies with dip and some other things... maybe 8 choices in all? You can select the same thing every day automatically or choose some thing new every day.. .they bring you a new card with that days delivery and you just put the card out before 10 pm... it was a nice before dinner snack...

Thanks BarbCT605. RATS, I hate dressier (just kidding) :D If its held on our day at sea, I'll be dressier anyway. DW is celebrating 50th B'day that day.

Whoa! Don't forget that it's Freestyle:) . (I know you were kidding.)

I've been to the Captain's VIP cocktail party and have seen pax who've come in shorts after their shore excursions and were perfectly comfortable.

Bottom line: go with "whatever" the dress code is of the day, and/or what you'd wear to dinner. That's why I love Freestyle.;)

Be comfortable, have a great cruise and happy big 5-0 birthday to DH !

Does anyone have a copy of the suite room service menu? Or does anyone remember what was special about it?

I'm not sure which ship this is from, but this is a sample suite menu I found on ontheseas.com- just to give you an idea. Its kind of hard to read all of it:

http://www.ontheseas.com/images/menurs.jpg

The menu is a lot larger than the regular room service menu- from what I have heard.

I'm not sure if Cagney's has a seperate menu for breakfast and lunch, if you choose to order that room service. Maybe someone else can answer that.

If you go on webshots and do a search, you will also find stuff like this. I have found that to be very helpful:

  • 3 months later...

We were on the Pearl in March, cabin cat AE, comes with butler etc. No free water or soda after the initial water was consumed. No free soda daily but we did have the lovely cuppacino machine. Unfortunately, some of the time it did'nt work or maybe I was technically challanged.

On Nov 29 we got a great price on the Owneres Suite, Dawn. (due to spending to much time in the casino!) After 18 cruises this was the first time we got free drinks in the casino and were told to book through the casino for a discount off our next cruise. This turned out to be 17% off the cabin rate plus we had a $500 voucher from using their credit card (and no, we are not in debt, all is paid off). Having said that this will be our first time in an OS

Have always booked the lowest suite that comes with the butler. I have read all above posts and agree with all. Also, for the OS one has a selectio of three liter bottles of liquor for free, the selection is also posted on this board somewhere. Unfortunately, search is down, again, and I could not find it for you. Have a great trip.
