retiredonthesea Posted September 30, 2008 #154 Share Posted September 30, 2008 As a point of information, Ryan the butler has left the Jewel and is headed to the Gem in the Med. Those who get him will be lucky - he is one of the best! Who will be the Butler NOW? We are sailing Oct. 28th and have been reading about all the good service on the Jewel. We're in an AB if anyone has an idea who our Butler might be. I hope Alex is still the concierge. Thanks for any info.

z-ski Posted October 7, 2008 #161 Share Posted October 7, 2008 Do the Mini-Suites on the Pearl have the use of the concierge service? Web site is a little vague.
Planer's Edge Posted October 7, 2008 #162 Share Posted October 7, 2008 Do the Mini-Suites on the Pearl have the use of the concierge service? Web site is a little vague. Sorry, but no it is not a standard perk for mini-suites. But, that not preclude you from contacting the Concierge on your own and requesting assistance. But, be sure to tip appropriately if you are afforded assistance. PE
cruzndiz Posted October 7, 2008 #163 Share Posted October 7, 2008 Although I was in a balcony (not suite) cabin this past weekend ,I received concierge service on my Sky trip with Virginia who was beyond wonderful. Unfortunately, I did not see her the final night or the final morning to tip her out. Two questions: 1. How much do you tip concierge? 2. How do I get it to her now that I'm off the ship? I think your only option is to contact someone in Miami to figure out how to do this. PE

Planer's Edge Posted October 7, 2008 #168 Share Posted October 7, 2008 Is it appropriate to tip the concierge upfront if you are planning to use their services? No, but if the Concierge is not part of your perks package you should tip as you go for services rendered. Let them suggest you wait till the end of the cruise. Have you ever used the Concierge at a hotel? Think along the same lines. As for how much to tip for specific things....what was it worth to you ass compared to not having it? cruzndiz Posted October 7, 2008 #171 Share Posted October 7, 2008 Have you ever used the Concierge at a hotel? Think along the same lines. As for how much to tip for specific things....what was it worth to you ass compared to not having it? PE I know you're trying to help me, and I appreciate it, but I guess it would be easier if you had the whole story. First of all, I didn't even KNOW I had a concierge and I wasn't in a suite so it wasn't like I had one automatically. I was on this ship as an invited casino VIP guest so apparently "they" all knew who I was. If I wasn't a CC member I wouldn't have even known who Virginia was, but I had seen other posters talking about a Virginia who was their suite concierge and wasn't she just wonderful, etc. etc. etc. So when I was sitting in the cruise terminal before boarding and getting ready to get on line, this woman comes over and says "follow me". I thought she was bringing me to the end of the line to await boarding but instead she brings me upstairs to board the ship (line pass!). Then on Sunday when we were going to GSC, she had told me to find her when I was ready to head for the island (which I forgot about) but when I was wandering the hallways she tracked me down and said "follow me" and brought me to the disembarkation station (line pass which aggravated other pax!) ahead of the line. It never occurred to me to tip her on the spot -- and I didn't have any cash on me at that point anyway. But now I feel like a heel if I don't acknowledge her somehow
Planer's Edge Posted October 7, 2008 #172 Share Posted October 7, 2008 If that is all she did for you I would not feel too bad myself. It would hardly seem worth the effort to try to get a few bucks delivered to her. We use the concierge for all of our dinner reservations. Last year we had a mid-cruise dinner party with some of our meet and greeters and I asked the concierge to deliver the invitations. For a 14 day cruise I believe we gave the concierge $100. This may seem high but this guy was so incredibly attentive and seated us in the extremely VIP seats (reserved for Owners suite and above) in the theater. All this and we were only in a mini-suite. Bennett'sCruise Posted October 7, 2008 #174 Share Posted October 7, 2008 We booked a category "CC" which I think comes with this service. Can anyone tell me who the person is on this cruise and what I can expect? CC - maybe on a Celebrity ship, not on NCL. CC on NCL is an Oceanview Room ... no consierge. :(
