Hi Vani

I will be in PR 8/14 with my wife of 35 years. She was born in Arecibo. We will be staying in Bayamon with Abuela. Then we sail on AOS 8/22. Best times are in PR. We rent a van and go all over. Visit family in Arecibo, Fajardo, Bayamon and Hatillo. Favorite places are Banos de Coamo, Guavate (best lechon), Ponce, and terrific walks through Old San Juan. Yes, we stop at the stands in Pinones for the greatest pinchos and also the Kioskos in Luquillo. Been all over the Island and have always had a great time. I am lucky to have been immersed in this culture and experience everything it has to offer. We love to drive through the mountains (not for the faint of heart) and go into the towns. When my Spanish gets weak, I always have mi esposa to help me out. Lol. Puerto Rico has a lot to offer the visitor and there is much more than San Juan.

Hi everyone! Puerto Rico me encanta icon_smile.gifwe (2 couples, one couple is from Puerto Rico) are sailing on the AOS on July 11th. Old San Juan is one of my favorite ports to sail from. I keep telling my husband that when we retire, it will be to Puerto Rico!

Hi guys:

Boricua here, I am glad there are a lot of puertorican cruisers around. I was born in Puerto Rico but live in California now. I really enjoy when I sail out of San Juan and there are many puertoricans on board it makes it reaaly lively. Will be sailing out of San Juan in May again and back in November and I can't wait. I have been on 47 cruises 117 with Royal Caribbean and so far 11 with Princess many out of San Juan. Let's keep the post going.

I am glad to hear your opinion, I feel bad making a classification such as "midwest people", I been in that area myself and found the people there to be very friendly.

I was just very angry at the time when writing this post after reading so many negative posts on Puerto Rico, I know Barceloneta, my family is from manati, you should be familiar with that area since it is so close.

Thank you for clarifying your broad statement about midwesterners. I'm from the MW and we have a large PR population. I've been to PR and the people were very nice and the cruise that I took out of PR was the best only because of the passengers (many locals).

Lilylady, Read this whole thread and you find the answer to your question in replies from Vanilousky and Guatiao. I had the same question about "boricua" and they very kindly answered me! icon_smile.gif

To all friends in this thread... I guess this goes to show that no matter where you are from, when we all have things in common, we can all be one... in this case cruising!! LOL!

I am curious to know if the AOS has any kind of 24-hr pizza stand, a la Carnival...

Wep@@@@@@@@, i couldn't answer before cause i was in my little island icon_biggrin.gif. I am glad this thread didn't turn out to be the disaster i got with mine, i guess the difference was that we spoke Spanish there, lots of heat we got and not exactly from the island. I am from Arecibo "La Villa del Capitán Correa" and second capital of the island, jejeje... icon_wink.gifbut u know what Ponce es Ponce! "La Ciudad Señorial"

Kim, i know a guy that has a tour company and his name is Ivan Soto with IS Tours and his email address is ISTours@Xsn.Net you can tell him that Glory referred you. I know that he is from the Camuy area so it may help.

Denise, thank you for the beautiful pictures, they are awsome.

Frank say hello to your wife, she's from my town of Arecibo. You made me go and get something to eat, i got hungry with all of that yummy comida that you mentioned. I want some morcilla tooo icon_frown.gif

And desde luego a big hug and kiss to all the Boricuas in da houseeee. Has everyone noticed that all we do is kiss and hug each other everytime we find a friend, some people look at us funny icon_razz.gif When i first moved to CT i couldn't get over with just the cold hug icon_confused.gif

Our next cruise...hopefully with the kids sometime next year, we just got back from the beautiful Radiance of the Seas last March.

Wepa, wepa, wepaaaaa!!

Happy Cruising To All!!
