You can see by signature that I have cruised alot but clearly I have may have 'missed the boat' to use a bad pun.

Just back from a visit with my new sister-in-law and lo and behold, they received their newest brochure from Seaborn. Obviously, I have had my head in the sand as I had not heard of this cruise line. The SIL and hubby say that they would never cruise with anyone else,.

So, tell me loyal Seaborn cruisers...tell me all the reasons in 100 words or less, what makes you love Seaborn over any other cruise line. I have enjoyed Princess, RCCL and European River cruises...why is Seaborn better? I have already booked two more cruises that do not show up on my signature but as the deposits are fully refundable, I'm ready, willing and able to change!

Thanks for your input.

If you try Seabourn you will be hooked--great food--great accomodations--great service--staff knows your name after one day--a super group of fellow passengers. You will find the large majority of passengers are repeat, and on our last cruise, 40% of the passengers booked another trip while on board! You can't go wrong on Seabourn! Don

I am sure if you peruse the threads on this BB you will find lots of reasons why we sail Seabourn.

Here's a link to the Seabourn Stories on the website:

Thank you Jane for the link. I have enjoyed looking at all the posts and pictures. Now the hard part is deciding which cruise to choose!

Hi, welcome to the Seabourn boards. I can see you are a seasoned cruiser, so you must love the ocean. If you do, I think I can honestly say one of the things you'll love about Seabourn is how close you can get to it. On Seabourn, you will never have the feeling of being crowded. There is something very special about the fifth deck. At the bow, there is a whirlpool, and deck chairs, and you can actually have the experience out there that it's you, the sky and the sea. No crowds, ever, anywhere.

LaPaloma rightly pointed out the beautiful cabins, matchless service and wonderful food. What I love most about Seabourn is the small size of the ships, which gives you an everyday experience that is intimate, relaxed, friendly, warm.

The largest ship I ever sailed on was Holland America's Amsterdam, 1800 people. I'll never go back to that size ship again.

I wish you the very best and envy you your first Seabourn experience.

Jane

?Know you names after one day?

Why so slow? My wife and I boarded on our third Seabourn cruise at Lisbon. We were escorted to the suite, stayed for 10 minutes, and then wanted a snack. On the way topside we met hotel manager in the hall and he said, "Wecome back Mr. and Mrs. Frick" That in less that 15 minutes! That's Seabourn!

If you want to cruise on your 'own yacht' choose Seabourn.

The only thing you cannot decide is 'where she goes'.

The rest is for you to decide.i.e. where you eat, what you eat, when you eat, who you ant to eat with etc.

Who to talk to or not to talk to.

Rest or play.

Anything,Anytime,Anywhere.

ENJOY!

I've been on Princess (largest ship being the Dawn) and Seabourn. I can't wait until I can do a Seabourn again. I don't like the constant sales pitches on Princess for art auctions and bingo and soda cards and water bottles and so on. You have none of that on Seabourn. They have everything you might want or need, even little touches like a refrigerator of chilled water bottles in the gym.

However, they don't have trivia contests evey couple of hours. No big production number shows. No jugglers or magicians. No 24 hour buffet. If that is what you expect on a cruise, then Seabourn may not be your best option.

I highly recommend Seabourn because it is not the mass market cruiselines.

I'd be glad to answer any specific questions you might have about comparisons.

Good question...short answer is I cruise what I know. I know what I like about each particular cruise line and what I don't...so I avoid the art auctions, the soda cards, overpriced bingo games, the napkin folding demos, and the craft workshops. I do enjoy sipping my wine on my balcony or suite, I enjoy the food (better on Princess), I enjoy the production shows and some of the lounge acts, I do the line dancing classes and of course, love the ports of call.

I also did a cruise down the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland and loved loved loved it. It was my first time in Europe and first time on a smaller boat. I chose KD a European line so experienced what I felt was the European style of service and it was excellenct. I am planning another one soon.

So back to Seabourn...when my new sister-in-law showed me the brochure I thought to myself 'heh..this looks like the perfect blend of what I like about the big cruise lines combined with the river cruise feel ie. smaller boat, more attentive staff.

Thanks again for giving me the comparisons...this is why I come to rely on cruisecritic.com.

>" I enjoy the production shows and some of the lounge acts, I do the line dancing classes..."

The entertainment on Seabourn is very low key. There is usually one performance an evening with either one of the talented CD members or a guest entertainer. Sometimes they are held before dinner, accompanied by a small cocktail party. The Cllub ('Lounge') has a duo and the band, who alternate gigs for dancing and listening. But that's about it. I have never seen line dancing classes or other such activities advertised; other than bridge, occasionally napkin folding, and there is golf putting on sea days along with trivia.

But on a port-intensive cruise, you will be pretty busy with signtseeing!

Johnny

I like your one word description! Service!

Let's not forget these words: Seabourn Luggage Valet option !:p

Few cruise lines offer sending luggage ahead......and then, DHLing it home from the ship! Truly a "God send"
