Stirling Travellers Cheques

Recommended Posts

less then 2 weeks to go, before i embark on my maiden cruise aboard Ventura. And i am now slowly getting the buzz, but also worrying that everything i need to do is in order?.

This brings me to my question, i know i will have to register my credit card when i get onboard, but i only intend to use this in an emergency, & will settle my onboard account with cash/travellers cheques.

So will stirling travellers cheques be ok ?, as i obviously do not want to be carrying all my money in hard cash, also are there any facillities onboard for accessing my bank account using my debit card, as i get my wages paid to me 1 week into my cruise, & is there a charge for this?.

Mark :D

hi yarco, to answer your questions.when you board i think the card you register will be used to pay for your on board account.if you want to pay cash for the account you will be limited to £150.00 per week andyou must settle this before you can charge any more to your account.as for sterling cheques i dont think you will have any problem cashing them.but it might pay to ask p&o before you leave.there are no cash machines on ventura and you cannot get cash from your bank account through your debit card.you can only get cash from the casino by charging it to your onboard account.we always use our credit cards to pay for everything charged to the onboard account and settle it when we get home it is much less hastle.hope this helps

we were on the maiden voyage of ventura and had a great time, happy sailing...humpy...

Thanks humpy for your reply, i now think as you have said that it would be easier to pay by credit card, & settle that bill when i get back.

Hi,

You will need to register a credit/debit card at check in or receive the aforementioned £150 at any one time on board account credit limit. No ATM's on board as explained, but many people did 'offset' their eventual bill by paying cash or sterling travellers cheques across on the penultimate day before disembarkment. Why not withdraw cash from a shore ATM on a port visit? Some Nationwide (Other bank accounts are available) accounts can allow deductions free of charge.

Ventura does not issue interim statements, but you can monitor your on board account on the interactive TV. Final written statement on the morning of disembarkation.

I had my wireless laptop with me (Which you can use in any lounge, not your cabin), £1.95 login charge per cruise and then various pay to use plans available, this allowed me to monitor my personal finances and the like!
