Toby34 Posted October 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2004 I know there has been some discussion about the Triumph, both negative and positive. We will be on this ship in December. I have been reading some of the past reviews and have seen some that say that there is alot of cigarette and cigar smoke everywhere you go. A friend of mine was on it a couple years ago and said she could not recall this at all. I will not be changing my plans, this is the second cruise for our family and we absolutely LOVED the first one. This is our first one on Carnival. I just wanted to know what to expect. Thank you for your help.
Bunkie103 Posted October 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2004 We were on the Triumph a year ago this week. We noticed the smoke mostly in the casino, but that seems rather common. The people on the balcony next to us smoked, and sometimes it was a little annoying because they were forward of us, so we got their smoke, but never noticed it in the cabin. It definitely wasn't overwhelming and no worse than being out in public. Have a great time. I LOVE THAT SHIP! :D :D
miclane001 Posted October 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2004 I was not aware of smoking during my cruise on the Triumph. I'm sure people were smoking, it just wasn't enough to bother me.
BigDoug Posted October 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2004 We were on the Triumph this past March. We didn't have any problems with people smoking. Sometimes my eyes would get irritated in the casino but I would either put some drops in or take a walk for awhile. I have dry eye condition but I don't think most people would have been bothered in the casino. Most of the complaints that I have read have to do with inconsiderate people, i.e. smoking in the wrong areas.
Toby34 Posted October 12, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted October 12, 2004 Thank you so much for your help. You have made me feel so much better. I expect smoke in the casino and places of that nature but the impression I got was there was smoke every where you went. Being a non-smoker this would be an issue for me but something I am willing to get over for a week. Thanks again for all your help!
Kerrilah Posted October 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2004 Hi - I am a smoker, so I thought I could help alleviate your worries. I have been on 2 Carnival cruises and have booked my third for February and as a smoker, I can tell you, it isnt that bad. There are more non-smoking areas than smoking, so you shouldnt have a problem finding places. Although the casino can get rather smokey, there is no smoking in the inside eating areas or any of the show rooms. And if there are people smoking in non smoking areas, as a smoker, I give you permission to tell them to move. ;) Smokers should respect non smokers the same way we want to be respected in order to smoke. Even as a smoker, I get very mad when others smoke in non smoking areas or around children. Even my black lungs need a break sometimes!! Wow never thought I could use the word smoke so many times in one paragraph!!
WannaCruiseSoon Posted October 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2004 I was on the Triumph in September and I dont recall too much smoke. I am a non-smoker as well, I know the casino had smokers (I spent quite a bit of time inthere LOL) and the only other time I noticed was when I went thru an area that was for smokers. (I did not realize it was a smoking area since I was hardly in that area)
kandps100 Posted October 13, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2004 hubby is an "active" non-smoker...militant would be another good word...LOL So I am hoping there isn't too much smoke smell. We've been on the Victory, the Fascination and the Ectasy and I don't remember much for smoke on those ships....was hoping the Triumph will be equally cool....:)
nmarsh Posted October 13, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2004 We were on the Triumph a year ago and did not have many problems with smoke, even in the casino. We did have one annoying person, at the slots, who blew her smoke in our direction, ussually people are more considerate.
