DevBrown Posted June 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2008 A group of us are cruising to Alaska for the first tiem on July 20th, sailing on Star Princess out of Seattle. I've heard that the sun doesn't set in the summer. What should we expect? Will it get dark and for how long each. I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered already. renebfl Posted June 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2008 Depends what part of Alaska you go to. The further north, the less darkness.Fairbanks is different from Ketchican.

We are headed to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, BC. I was just wanting a general idea of what to expect.
Yukon Posted June 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2008 At that time, 4-5 weeks after the Solstice, you'll get some dark but not a lot. You can find exact sunrise/sunset times for the various ports at http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.php
