dewhit6959 Posted October 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2004 You will not be in the United States. The Dutch and the French do not have a mandatory child seat law. My suggestion would be to hold the child.
kathi29 Posted April 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2005 I know this is too late for the original poster, but maybe it will help someone else. Many countries have car seat laws that are more stringent than some of our state laws. Yes, the laws vary from state to state and country to country. The laws of physics do not change. It is absolutely not safe to hold a baby on your lap. The best option is to take your car seat with you - you know how to install it and use it. You could check with your tour operator or rental company to see if they have seats available, but this may not guarantee you a seat. Even in a low speed crash it would be almost impossible to hold onto that baby - why risk making your child into a projectile?
