home_sea_home Posted June 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2008 I'm getting ready to book the Valor for next summer. I'm looking for a balcony for DH and I. Any suggestions? Thanks!:) Depending on what deck you want... If Deck 6 (Cat 8A), check out the deck plan for Deck 5. Try not to book over the show lounge or the casino. Deck 7 (Cat 8B) is sandwiched between two cabin decks, can't go too wrong there. Deck 8 (Cat 8C) Again check the deck plan for Deck 9. And so on and so forth. If either of you are prone to sea sickness, try to book a room mid-ship. Or there is always the aft balconies. Haven't tried one myself yet, but have heard that they are great :D
KenMo Posted June 14, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2008 I'd get one of the aft cabins on Empress deck. No public areas above or below you. It's quiet because the only traffic is people who's cabins are back there....unless you happen to be unlucky and get noisy neighbors. I love the view back there. Also the there's the gentle rocking to sleep every night. I request dining that puts me in the aft dining room. So it's very easy to get to the dining room and Lido. If I want to go to the Promenade deck, I just start aft and walk forward....instead of backtracking.
santacap Posted June 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2008 i wasin 6394 3 weeks ago, right above the arcade, looks to be bordering the club but I never heard an ounce of bass etc. nice location, close enough to the stairs to go down to the club, casino but far enough from the elevators we never heard a ding little bit of a trek to get off the ship at 0 deck as the main elevators was a longish walk other than that, great room
jayscore Posted June 14, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2008 We had an 8C aft on the Triumph (next to a 9A) and loved the extra wide balcony. Liked it so much, I went out of my way, and expense, to book the same cabin on Valor for next April. (I booked last December!) I liked being just one deck below the Lido deck, too. Look up the deck plans on CCL site, and see what you like. If you can book far enough ahead, you may be able to get your choice. ;)
98Charlie Posted June 14, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2008 If available, check out the aft wraps (9A's) on the Verandah, Empress, and Upper decks. Charlie

Thanks!:) We were on the Valor in May. We were on the Veranda deck under the pool area. BIG MISTAKE. All we heard were scraping of chairs. Learned from that! caribbeanboy Posted June 14, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2008 A bit off topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread on this. What can you order at fish and chips exactly? what kind of fish and how is it being prepared ? grill, fry etc.

It was worth it for one trip but, for us, not all that exciting. Charlie
caribbeanboy Posted June 14, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2008 thanks for the quick answer. Is everything deep fried?
98Charlie Posted June 14, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 14, 2008 thanks for the quick answer. Is everything deep fried? As I recall, yes. The hours were limited and, while the food was good, it wasn't impressive enough for us to go more than the one time total for 2 cruises on Valor. And, that time was on embarkation day of the first cruise. Now, the reubens are another story. To us, worth waiting for:D Charlie

LPLRN Posted June 14, 2008 #13 Share Posted June 14, 2008 We've been on the Glory and the Valor and we love the Panorama deck very convenient to the lido deck and the 10 flights of stairs kept the weight gain down
NAMVET Posted June 14, 2008 #14 Share Posted June 14, 2008 We are going to be on the Valor next November. Our cabin is 6309. Anyone have any experience in a cabin in this area?:D
ThePatientOne Posted June 14, 2008 #15 Share Posted June 14, 2008 As others have said, look at the deck plans.. Stay away from things that make noise.. Disco, galley, pool, etc.. The safe bets are with cabins above and below you.. I will be sailer the Valor in November of 09, have a CAT 8A aft balcony.. dining room is below me with staterooms above, My first aft balcony but not my first balcony. A balcony is the way to go... Coffee on the balcony in the morning and a nice "night cap" out there at night..
logbook Posted June 14, 2008 #16 Share Posted June 14, 2008 We were on the Panorama Deck on the Valor and loved it. Not a lot of cabins on this deck and it is very quiet. At the end of the hall, the doors open to the upper area of the pool. Very easy to run back and forth to your cabin for drinks or whatever. We loved it up there... and no more rocking than anywhere else.
