Experience with Tenders in Villafranche ?

Recommended Posts

We are on the splendour embarking Barcelona June 5, and wondering about tender service in Vllafranche. Do they run frequently enough all day? Can you get on early even if you aren"t booked on a ship excursion? Any one have hassles we should know about? Much obliged, Muzzy

The tenders ran all day with no hassles at all. We were on an early private tour and had no problem getting off early. It is a lovely port. Enjoy it.

Ooops, just realized that you are on the Splendour. We were on the Brilliance, but I wouldn't expect any different experience.

We were on the Brilliance and used the tender several times during the day whilst moored oof Villefranche. It ran very frequently - no waiting at all.

If you want to make sure that you are off on the first tender, just meet at the location the ship will tell you to get your tender ticket number. Our location started at 8:30 a.m. and we were in line at 7:50 a.m. and got the #1 tender ticket number and were off in great time. On the BOS, the tenders for their tours were departing from the port side and the tenders for independent travelers was departing from the starboard side.

All went smoothly and efficiently. But then we had fantastic weather and had no weather issues with the tenders. That can make a difference.

No problem with tenders on the Voyager last week. I was able to watch them from our balcony. It appeared that those with excursions departed from the forward gangway and everyone else left from mid-ship. The ride took about 10 minutes and in the morning there was usually one tender waiting (sometimes two) while passengers were boarding a tender. Went down for the tender at 9 walked right on and had plenty of time to catch the 9:47 train in Villefranche. Walked right back on in the afternoon with no waiting. These were not the ship's tenders. Much nicer.
