News Flash! Freestyle 2.0 is NOW ON THE DREAM (sort of)

Just back from the June 8th Dream, Boston to Bermuda run. We had confirmed with the food and beverage director on the 5/9 CTN that there would be no Freestyle 2.0 upgrades on the Dream as the ship is leaving the fleet in November. But guess what folks, there are!!!!!!!

As we embarked on Sunday, we were greeted by smiling crew members carrying trays laden with complimentary champagne! Woo-hoo!!! Later, we were given the card by our cabin stewards that enabled us to choose what fruits we wanted in our fruit basket. That evening, we opted for a quickie buffet dinner and there were white tablecloths on the tables along with flickering faux candles. No Freestyle 2.0? It was popping up everywhere!

Later, we spoke with HD Monique Barnhoorn, and she confirmed that due to the hue and cry on Cruise Critic, the bigwigs were called in (apparently we missed Klaus by a couple of weeks) and some upgrades were authorized. Obviously no bedding/pillow changes, no “action” stations in the buffet and only minor changes to the menu. According to the executive chef, Christoph Escbach, the Dream can’t comply with all of the menu changes as they don’t have the equipment. But they are doing what they can.

Our cruise was the beginning of the rollout, with more to come.

Other Freestyle 2.0 upgrades noted were the room service menu, (okay, that had been upgraded on the CTN) our cookies the last night of the cruise, and a biggie: Le Bistro is now open for breakfast and lunch to the VIP’s.

We will post a full review later with many more details, but thought folks would like to know the scoop!

Free drinks in the Casino on the Dream? Does the Dream have Casino cards?

Yes, there are casino cards of the paper variety. So you make sure you show your card to have your play monitored, particularly if you play the slots.

And yes, you get free drinks when playing, although service was a tad slow to barely existant!

Just got back from the Dream today. There was 2.0 onboard. Free champagne welcome, fruit trays, cookies last night we also had robes.

In spite of docking in Hamilton , we sucked it up and had blast!

There was additional crew onboard.

I sense I must share the excitement of the 2.0 as I am headed on the Dream in August. We do not have a suite;does this disqualify us from this good news? Please continue with all info on the trip; I will take notes!

The only thing that I listed that you would not be qualified for (assuming that you are not a Gold Latitudes member or higher?) would be the breakfast and lunch at LeBistro.

Everything else is there to enhance everyone's sailing experience.

I would hope that the disco gets the White Hot Party but either way, I won't be able to experience it but I think it would do something to spice up the nightlife onboard that vessel!

Oh well, there's always next year to sail on the NCL Spirit! I can't wait!! :D
