"Grand" Naples to Santorini- see Stromboli?

Recommended Posts

Read a review the other day that the sea day coming into Naples on the Grand you pass Stromboli. I think it said the captain made an announcement. If you can see it one way, I'd think you could see it heading out of Naples too.

We saw it two years ago. They announce it and most people were out only for a peek. It was quite a distance away, but the red could be seen. We stayed out for almost an hour as we approached and passed it with the binoculars we took along. It was intermittent in that the red was not always visible.

We saw it on the Grand in May but we were going the other way and passed it about 11PM. Last year on the Emerald we were leaving Naples and we passed it at about 2 or 3 AM. The captian did tell us early in the evening the approximate time we would be passing however if you are at dinner during the announcement you won't hear it.
