bxny Posted June 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2008 The Grand has a day at sea after leaving Naples at 7 pm. Will we be able to see Sromboli during the day or evening. Are announcements made?
ShoeChick Posted June 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Read a review the other day that the sea day coming into Naples on the Grand you pass Stromboli. I think it said the captain made an announcement. If you can see it one way, I'd think you could see it heading out of Naples too.
Mike073 Posted June 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2008 We saw it two years ago. They announce it and most people were out only for a peek. It was quite a distance away, but the red could be seen. We stayed out for almost an hour as we approached and passed it with the binoculars we took along. It was intermittent in that the red was not always visible. Eileen G Posted June 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2008 We saw it on the Grand in May but we were going the other way and passed it about 11PM. Last year on the Emerald we were leaving Naples and we passed it at about 2 or 3 AM. The captian did tell us early in the evening the approximate time we would be passing however if you are at dinner during the announcement you won't hear it. bxny Posted June 15, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Thanks to all who responded. Hoping to add Stromboli to my list of active volcanoes that I have seen.
