When the new 113,300-ton Carnival Splendor debuts in Europe July 2, 2008, so will three fun and high-energy revues – “The Beat,” “Vrooom,” and “Fiesta Latina” – which will be showcased in the ship’s elegant multi-level theater, Spectacular Spectacular.

“The Beat” is Carnival’s newest production and will offer a wide selection of fast-paced hit songs from Prince and Peter Gabriel, and a high-kicking tribute to Gerry Lee Lewis and Billy Joel, all accompanied by an elaborate display of video animation, digital lasers and other special effects. With highly detailed costumes and set designs and precision choreography, “The Beat” is sure to have guests energized and ready to dance.

“Vrooom” pays tributes to a number of memorable rock-and-roll stars in history, and features the music of such artists as Bob Seger and Huey Lewis & the News, as well as an entire section dedicated to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis. Continuing down memory lane, guests will also revisit the famous “British Invasion,” as well as the cool, toe-tapping sounds of Motown. The show ends with a tribute to Queen and some of their biggest hits.

The third show, “Fiesta Latina,” showcases popular Caribbean and Latin American sounds, through the pulsating beats of artists such as the Mambo Kings and Gloria Estefan, just to name a few. The catchy beats and rhythms of the tropics, along with colorful costumes, sets and a breathtaking display of technical wizardry, will surely have guests on their feet.

The three shows are staged in the multi-level theater, Spectacular Spectacular, whose elegant design includes a striking décor of oversized fiberglass stage curtains throughout the room and large chandeliers with strings of beads hanging down, creating a dramatic effect. Each show makes maximum use of the theater’s technological advances, which include a revolving stage, rising orchestra pit, “fly-in” scenery capabilities, a bank of special effects, and a multimillion-dollar sound and lighting system.

Carnival Splendor is set to debut July 2, 2008, with an eight-day voyage from Genoa followed by the launch of 12-day Northern Europe cruises from London (Dover) July 13, 2008. The ship will then be deployed to Rome (Civitavecchia) for 12-day voyages to the Mediterranean, Greece and Turkey then reposition to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for seven-day Caribbean departures. Following a series of 14- to 18-day South America voyages, Carnival Splendor begins year-round seven-day Mexican Riviera voyages from Long Beach, Calif., March 29, 2009.

Wow! Can't wait!

By the way, Liberty Cruiser, are you still on the 7/2 sailing? You seem to disappeared from the roll-call that you started. We were wondering whatever happened to you.

Sniff Sniff...I had a change of plans. Broke up with my Girlfriend and had to cancel that cruise. Guess I will have to wait to do an Inaugural:o

I cant wait to hear all the great reviews and pics of the ship!

Have a great cruise..its just a few weeks away, I know you have to be bouncing off the walls.
