When should I begin to PANIC!

Will be sailing on Nov 11 (Ecstasy) and still have not recieved our Docs yet from Carnival. When should I begin to panic? My TA said be patient, but I'm starting to get worried. I've talked to 2 others taking the same cruise and they've recieved theirs last week?

I have to agree with Karen (above) - my TA says not to expect docs until 2 weeks out. Even then, if they don't arrive you can always pick them up at the pier. Ours got sent to the wrong address once and by the time we tracked them down it was too late to send them out to us. We just got in a different line at the pier, got our docs, and then were escorted to priority boarding! :D

I wouldn't panic if I were you. I've gone on 3 cruises and on 2 I never received the docs before my trip. I just brought my receipt of payment from my TA with me and I didn't even need that. All they asked for was my ID and credit card. Everything is set up electronically, so I think the docs are just a formality and not your actual ticket on board.

Maybe it's your TA that's holding things up. One of the cruises that I didn't have the docs before my trip was due to the fact the TA, which was an online agency, just didn't get them out in time. Also, I booked that cruise within a 4 week window, so things were a little rushed.

Do you have your booking # with Carnival? If so, just go online and view your reservation. That way you'll have some piece of mind that everything's as it should be; i.e. cabin #, dinner assignments, etc. I'm on the Inspiration for 11/4/04 and received my docs about a month ago. However, I viewed online right after I booked my cruise and the docs didn't provide me anymore information than I already knew by looking online.

Have a great trip and don't fret it.

Julia

No I do not have a booking number. This cruise is a group cruise sponsored by a Radio station, otherwise I would not have used this TA and I regret now having to do so. I do have my credit card receipt, but how can I get a booking number?

In your case, there may be two: 1) the group booking number, and 2) your individual booking number. The booking number(s) should be on the invoice from your travel agent. If not, call the travel agent and request the booking number. You'll need your individual booking number in order to complete the Fun Pass on Carnival's web site.

As long as you have a booking number that's recognized by Carnival's system, I wouldn't worry much about the tickets.

We sail on the Sensation on 10/23 and just received docs yesterday. Some in our group don't have them yet! Although I know you don't need them to board, I enjoy looking at them, holding and sleeping with them under my pillow(just kidding) They seem to come earlier when you book directly with Carnival.

We sail on the Pride on Oct. 31st. I just got my doc's today. I have gotten my doc's 1 month in advance, and also had to pick them up AT THE HARBOR on the day we sailed. Don't worry...you will get your doc's in plenty of time. If not...one way or another you WILL BE ON THAT SHIP. Bon Voyage!

Thank you all for making me feel better, I willn't panic....yet. I called the TA (again) and got pretty much the same answer (in a sickly sweet manner) that because this is a group cruise (and a large one at that) the docs are being sent to the TA and I will have to pick them up from them. They don't have any individual booking numbers yet and I just need to wait patiently (Yeah right). But seriously I'm ok with it all, I just can't wait to have those docs in my hand. We booked this cruise back in June so I've had time to stew over it far too long.

M, believe me... I have had this cruise booked for 15 months, cruising in 9 days and NO DOCS! So I feel your pain! Our last cruise we received them 11 days ahead of time and I though I was going crazy then!!! Should have them today, and I will be a happy camper :D

We cruised to Alaska this summer (on Celebrity) and had 5 cabins spread between 2 different online cruise agencies - why? The first online agency would not meet the prices of the other agency when we wanted to upgrade 3 of our 4 inside cabins to outside cabins. The price difference was over $600. So, in January (before our July cruise), I cancelled the 3 cabins with one agency and booked them with the other agency.

The point to this post: we got documents in from the 2nd cruise agency (with the 3 outside cabins) about 7 weeks before the cruise . We didn't get documents for the other 2 cabins until about 3 weeks before the cruise. That's a month's difference and also included many phone calls from me asking where the missing documents were.

So, as little as we like it, some TAs will just get those documents out a lot faster than others.

Actually, there may be one concern - pre-registration (i.e. Funpass). Most cruiselines require or at elast strongly request that it be completed in advance. You need your confirmation number to do so.

M. Hawkins, don't panic!!! I take it this is your first cruise and I certainly appreciate your anxiety! I was the same way for my first two cruises. BUT, the docs always got to me in plenty of time, usually 2 weeks to 10 days before sailing, which is plenty of time even if you need to have something changed, e.g. misspelled name. I leave Saturday for my 5th cruise (thank you, Lord) and picked up my docs about 10 days ago. So you're not really in the window yet. Just think about having a great cruise! Don't sweat the small things.

Does it really show Cruise=Heaven? I've even gone to my "Aint got my docs" dance just to keep my self entertained. For some reason I just imagined that I would have seen them before now. But I am very comforted to know I'm not alone, but also glad to know that I'm not the fool for not speaking up either.

Where ya heading to on your cruise Sat? If your in Cozumel let me know what the Good the Bad and Ugly is. Our plan right now is PB.

Headed to Nassau, St. Thomas & St. Maarten. Did the western tour last year, and it was fine, but just prefer eastern route. Cozumel was pretty nice for shopping but Montego Bay is rather depressing. Did not get off ship at Caymen Islands because we had to tender in and I am past the age of wanting to be that adventurous (68)! But we did have a grand time. Everything was beautiful as long as you didn't go into town in Montego Bay. I'll do a review on the Glory upon return. Keep the faith -- you will get to do the doc dance yet!

You don't need your docs to do your Funpass. I did mine more than 6 mos in advance, my TA gave me my confirmation number over the phone as soon as I had made my reservation.

Unfortunately this is a group cruise thru a TA (and not a very good one) I asked repeatedly for a confirmation number or a booking number or anything that shows I have a cruise booked. Other than the charge to my CC I have nothing to show (Oh and their assurance that everything is ok, yippie)
