Andy Posted June 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2008 Hi Everyone ! Effective 6/30/08, Azamara will be raising the fuel supplement from 8.00 per person per day to 15.00 per person per day. As most of Azamara's sailings are longer, this will make for a fairly steep increase. If you are considering booking Azamara, it would be wise to consider booking PRIOR to 6/30/08, to avoid this latest increase to 15.00 per person per day. I found it interesting that (to my knowledge) this is the first time that Azamara's surcharge is going higher than Celebrity and Royal Caribbean (which are going from 8.00 to 10.00 per person per day). I suppose one of the reasons for this, is the smaller passenger capacity of Azamara's ships. If you would like to read more, here is a link to Azamara's Website : http://www.azamaracruises.com/aboutUs/travelAlert.do;jsessionid=0000MXReJgRBotdQwawiAeZytmw:12odfrv1v?pagename=travel_alert_1 I hope you find this information helpful. Susan-M Posted June 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2008 I suppose one of the reasons for this, is the smaller passenger capacity of Azamara's ships. I agree ... and they are now in line with Oceania's recent increase in the surcharge.
Ask4Jay Posted June 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2008 Thanks, Andy - Booked our T/A for 2010 last week, saved $196. With apologies to Ben Franklin: "In these times nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.". . .and fuel surcharges. Oh well. grandsix Posted June 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2008 $15.00 per day per passenger so they are now in line with their competitor Oceania.
fPetrarca Posted June 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2008 I was told by an officer on my recent Italy cruise that fuel costs for each Azamara ship now are nearly twice what they were when the line was inaugurated a year ago. The "R" ships are real gas guzzlers.
