Uniworld Cruise - Questions?

We will be leaving for our European Serenade Cruise with Uniworld on the River Countess in less than two weeks and had a few questions. What are the drink prices at the bar for a glass of wine or a bottle of beer? Do they have a "Happy Hour" like Amadeus? Do they limit the amount of wine at dinner? Can you substitute beer for wine? Here is a question that isn't about drinks. What time is dinner nornmally served? Since they provide a laundry room, I'm assuming they do not want you to iron clothes in your room. How crowded does the laundry area get? That's all for now. Thanks for your response in advance.

Hi Lummy:

I can answer most of your questions for you.

I only had the Grolsch on tap and I think it was 3.50 E for a small and 4.50 for a large (or there abouts).

I don't drink wine, but I think it was approx. 5 E a glass depending on what kind it was.

The drink prices were VERY reasonable. No automatic gratuities on drinks.

No happy hour, but I don't really think that one was neede.

They did always have a mixed drink of the day that was around 5 E.

No limit on the wine with dinner. You barely got an inch out of the glass and it was refilled.

Not sure about substituting. I don't know if anyone tried that.

Dinner is at 7 pm every night.

Cocktails at 6 pm and the port talk for the next day at 6:30.

There was hardly anyone ever in the laundry area.

It's quite small with 2 washers and 2 dryers.

You iron in the laundry room not in your room.

Anything else let me know as I did that exact itinerary on The River Duchess last year.

Hi Lummy:

I just returned on Thursday from the Vienna to Amsterdam cruise on the River Duchess. It is absolutely the best! They do everything that they say. I have been on several cruises and escorted vacations, and Uniworld is tops. We are already planning our next Uniworld trip. The drink charges are not that bad, I drink Tanguray and tonic and it is a flat 6E. It costs about 13E in the Hilton in Vienna. I agree with everything that Tiggypoo says. The laundry was usually going all the time as most of the passengers were in the middle of their extended travels. We actually used their laundry service once since we were on vacation and didn't want to spend time in the laundry. It was a little spendy, but everything came back nice and folded, pants, shirts ironed. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me at djmcnally@msn.com
