Shipyard Cruiser Posted June 27, 2008 #53 Share Posted June 27, 2008 Hucklebuck is a song and dance by chubby checker, or a sexual position, or another unmentionable. Never heard of a Hucklebuck cruise. Sounds dirty. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hucklebuck You know I remember the Chubby Checker song:D As for the rest...
Darkwolfe Posted June 27, 2008 #54 Share Posted June 27, 2008 Casual means jeans to me. Seems to work for most other folks on the ships too. I'm probably a little bit evil, but I purposely do something different on formal nights. I show up in 1880s Western formal. Which means I get away with black jeans, my Stetson, and boots on formal night. It's somewhat amusing to watch reactions too. Some have their noses in the air, some tell me they wish they'd thought of it. Captains on Voyager and Enchantment both made approving remarks. The best result? I stay comfortable!! Can't stand dress slacks. I always feel like the dern things are gonna rip the instant I take a step.

Yvonne Posted June 27, 2008 #56 Share Posted June 27, 2008 Jeans on formal night? Going on a hucklebuck cruise? I would rather be seated with a table full of "hucklebucks" on the "suggested" formal nights rather than a snob who calls people they don't even know a "hucklebuck" simply because they don't choose to "dress to the nines" on the "suggested" formal nights. beachbumforever Posted June 27, 2008 #57 Share Posted June 27, 2008 I’m so glad to be reading that so many are wearing jeans on the casual nights now. Jeans are so much dressier now than they used to be. Like someone else said, there are designer jeans that cost over $150.00. You can look much nicer in a pair of jeans with a cute top or Tommy Bahama shirt than someone in a pair of polyester crop pants or polyester slacks. If someone has a problem with it, they should only cruise on the higher priced cruise lines that are much more formal. Then they won’t be offended. It really shouldn’t matter what you are wearing unless they specifically restrict that type of dress such as shorts and tanks. Right now on casual nights they don't say that no jeans are allowed.
