Rare uktog Posted June 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2008 I went shopping tonight - starting to get serious about my cruise next month. I am bored with my evening dress and I saw and tried on a lovely blue coloured dress. I was in two minds about buying it but when I looked at the label it said its colour was DENIM What do you think? Will I get sent away for wearing it :):D
FinelyCruising Posted June 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2008 I do not have a snappy come back for this one...:D
chessbriar Posted June 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2008 I do, but I'll keep it too myself. I'm sure it breaks some rule.
Island Flower Posted June 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2008 I was in two minds about buying it but when I looked at the label it said its colour was DENIM What do you think? Will I get sent away for wearing it :):D I think: Hell yes, if you feel gorgeous in it, you should buy it! As you said yourself, the label didn't say the FABRIC was denim. The label said the COLOUR was Denim. "Denim" is a legitimate shade name. This does not mean you are dressed for a ride on a mechanical bull. I'm pretty sure on formal night, they're not going to outlaw a dress that is the colour of denim unless the fabric itself looks like denim, or it's got double-stitching, or looks like you're headed for nightcap at a good honky-tonk later... If you love it, you should have it. It is then up to you whether you want to wear it on your cruise... ;)

Ardy53 Posted June 27, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 27, 2008 Whew!!! What a relief to find this thread after the hectic 140+ posts on THAT other thread about dress code. Never mind that we didn't all agree there, I am sure there are no disagreements about who we want as dinner guests here. Just as an aside, and asked in all sincerity, does JEANS mean "blue denim" in Celebrities eyes? Is black denim acceptable for casual evenings? I didn't dare ask this question on THAT other thread. :D Roy&Val
FinelyCruising Posted June 27, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 27, 2008 You know I think demin in any color is the culprit... Although I think this dress looks nice and youthful, it would be a real rare type to be able to pull it off in style in an X dining room as she managed to some degree in *her* environment. And his hat at the table on X....definite no, no of course. ;)
FinelyCruising Posted June 27, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 27, 2008 BTW, you held your own an were fine over there. If you have something you feel important to contribute, don't stop engaging yourself. Alot of what was said today was good natured ribbing more than any kind of hostility.
