Lizard© Posted June 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2008 Anyone done this tour?? Hubby needs to know if the equipment used will allow him to wear his glasses. Without them he's as blind as a bat, :D so if he can't wear 'em we don't do the walk. :( Thanks, Lynda.
Brushtail Posted June 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2008 Hi Lynda, we are keen to do this too. I went to their website and it is run by the same people who do the Neptune Glass Bottom Boat and Snorkel Safari. I have emailed them before and they are really nice. Just email and ask them. Here is their website and some photos from it. It looks a fabulous experience. http://www.ultimatevanuatu.com/?TOURS:Under_water_walk

Ela 2 Posted June 30, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 30, 2008 Oh .... the lenses for hubby are expensive that is!!!Hubby went downstairs to a T/A who rang P&O and was assured it is a helmet we wear, so we're happy :D Sorry to come in on this one Lizard. I believe that people on the underwater walking on the Great Barrier Reef in Qld wear helmets. Looking at the photos posted here by Jen about the Vila trip it looks as if it might be a mask. The company's website describe it as "a mask". If I was thinking of going I would email the company direct and ask what the equipment is - full head helmet or a face mask. I don't think a person could wear spectacles under a face mask because you could not get a waterproof seal around the edges of the mask where the arms of the specs have to go around the person's ears. I don't want to see you booking on the tour (and paying the money) only to find that the info you have been given is incorrect. :):)

I asked her about the helmet and she assured me that you wear an ordinary snorkelling mask and a mouthpiece for the air. :( So there is no helmet. Maybe the man from P&O got confused with another type of underwater walk where you wear a big yellow helmet. So it's back to the drawing board for you, I'm afraid. But at least you now know and can make an informed decision. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(
