ARBORGUY Posted June 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2008 Hi, Based on reviews here (Budget Queen, especially) DW and I are going with Island Wings to Traitor's Cove..Bear viewing August 23.. (we on SB Island Princess) Question... I have a Nikon D80 with the 18-200 mm zoom. Will this be enough power or should I consider renting the 70-400 mm?? Any and all suggestions are welcome! I'm also posting on the Alaska Discussion Board. Thanks, Bill
ciara Posted June 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2008 would suggest that you have a plan B we were really looking forward to this trip but was cancelled cos of fog - the only disappointment on the whole cruise sorry - forgot to say that it was end Aug cruise
Rare pierces Posted June 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Wildlife it the main reason people buy a lens over 200mm. I'll also vote for plan "B". You never see Art Wolfe shooting bears in Katmai with a standard zoom! I'll not be retyrning to Alaska without 400mm or more. Dave
